In addition to having an independent spirit, as described in the previous chapter, Don Barry is also objective, pragmatic and quite ambitious. He is likely to work his way to the top of the ladder in some corporation, academic community or the like through his astute strategies combined with his willingness to take risks. Don Barry aims to be the authority, the one in charge. At times his impulsiveness may be at odds with his conservative, responsible side (which is discussed below). His career, reputation and public image are very important to Red Barry. Don Barry has a strong desire to be influential or make his mark on the world. Don Barry may undervalue the personal or inner facet of life.

His ideals and spiritual values motivate Don Barry, and he cannot live for personal gain or materialistic concerns alone. There must be an element of beauty, magic, imagination, inspiration or creativity in what he does. Otherwise Don Barry becomes listless and aimless. The arts, theater, music and/or charitable work are ideally suited to Don.

Don Barry seems to have an emotional and physical unrest and he always have to be on the move. Don could find it difficult to control himself and he tends to get angry and upset easily. Eccentric and individualistic, he can create a stir wherever he goes.
