Ken Howard motivation
Although Ken Howard appears gentle and sympathetic toward others (as explained in the previous chapter), he is also a "warrior". Howard sometimes feels torn between these two facets of his character: the sensitive, tenderhearted, home-loving side, and the assertive, competitive, risk-taking side. People who first meet Ken Howard often think that he is a "softy", but later find out that he is strong willed and pursues his goals aggressively.
He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Ken Howard believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Howard's gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
Ken Howard craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Ken likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.
Ken Howard loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then he is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes and introduce some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are tantamount to death for him. He is not afraid of trying something that has never been done before, and even though he may sometimes be perceived as a fool, Ken Howard also discovers, invents and initiates things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following his own star are the breath of life for Howard, and he wilts (or gets very frustrated and angry) if he cannot do this.
He is spontaneous, impulsive, direct, enthusiastic and assertive. Ken Howard believes in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and he perceives himself as a strong, even invincible, person. Ken Howard hates being ill or in a position of dependency. Accepting his own human limitations and emotional needs is often difficult for him.
He is basically aggressive in his attitudes and less adept at relating to others, picking up on subtle messages and nuances, listening, nurturing and harmonizing. He is often so fired up about his own projects or goals that he inadvertently runs over or ignores other people's feelings and interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others' contributions, ideas and feelings would be highly instrumental in improving Howard's relationships. His impatience to get on with things causes Ken Howard to be rather insensitive, thereby alienating others unnecessarily. He also frequently tries to accomplish his goals through anger or temper tantrums. Ken Howard would gain much by learning to slow down, relax and sometimes just let things be, however his energetic, restless nature rarely allows Ken Howard to do so.
His career, reputation and public image are very important to Howard. Ken Howard has a strong desire to be influential or make his mark on the world. He is not satisfied with the personal sphere alone; his ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for his unique effort and gifts. Ken Howard may undervalue the personal or inner facet of life.
Howard's subconscious needs and feelings blend well with his conscious intentions and desires, therefore Ken Howard is able to proceed with his life's pursuits relatively unhampered by internal resistance or inconsistency. Ken's male-female relationships will also reflect this state of internal harmony.
He is an original! Ken Howard radiates a sort of electrical excitement about the things he is interested in, and conveys this to others, but he also gets bored rather quickly. Ken does not mind being a bit unusual or breaking a few rules either.
Ken Howard deeply believes in his own power and his ability to survive any change and emerge victorious from any difficulty. Ken has tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, he pursues his desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and he may be somewhat compulsive and even fanatical at times. Ken likes to live intensely and has no respect for people who are weak or avoid confronting life and their own destiny.
