Many of the traits described in Chapter 2 are emphasized again below. His enthusiasm and outgoing, forward-looking nature is a gift, but Bruce Lee should also be wary of the tendency to overlook details and be oblivious to others' personal feelings.

He is a gambler and an adventurer at heart, one who loves to take risks, to discover and explore new worlds, and to take the untried path rather than the safe, reliable one. He is an independent soul, freedom-loving, and often very restless. He needs a lifestyle that provides opportunities for travel, movement, change, and meeting new people. A steady routine which offers much in the way of security but little in the way of space and freedom is odious to him.

To Bruce Lee, life is a journey, an adventure, endlessly interesting and rich with possibilities, and it may be difficult for him to decide where to focus his attention and efforts. Bruce Lee probably traveled around and experimented with many different paths before he settled on a particular career. Or he may go from one project to the next, for once the challenge and vital interest is gone, he is very quick to move on. Commitment, discipline, focus, and concentration are not his strong points. Lee can be irresponsible and disinclined to take on the burdens and limitations of adult life.

An incurable optimist, he has big dreams, aspirations, and hopes for the future and is usually pursuing some distant goal. Bruce Lee has a great deal of faith and trust in life and failures do not crush his spirit. Lee always bounces back from disappointments, often with another bright dream or scheme. Bruce Lee has a sporting, playful attitude toward life and he is philosophical about his mistakes. Bruce has the ability to sense future trends, to see the big picture, and he likes to theorize and speculate. However, attending to all of the details and practical requirements of implementing his theories is bothersome to him.

Lee expresses himself in a very open, direct, and straightforward manner and is often blunt and tactless as well. Because he does not take himself too seriously, he may not realize how deeply his candid statements can wound more sensitive souls. In fact, though he may not realize it, Bruce's insensitivity and lack of understanding regarding others' feelings is probably one of his worst faults.

Bruce Lee does enjoy being in close relationships, but he needs freedom also and he does not do well with a possessive, clinging, or emotionally demanding partner. He is quite generous, and heartily dislikes pettiness in others. Someone who shares his ideals, his sense of fun, and his zest for life would be the right companion for Lee.

Bruce Lee tends to get involved in the helping professions or in activities where his efforts are hidden, behind the scenes, unacknowledged, or unknown to the public. Asserting himself or getting up in front of an audience may be exceedingly uncomfortable for Lee.

Lee occasionally gamble, splurge, or overextend himself in ways that may be quite at odds with his usual way of doing things. Exaggerating his accomplishments or spending too much in order to impress others and build up his own self-esteem can be a problem. However, Bruce Lee also has faith and an optimistic side, which enable him to recover from the negative consequences of his excesses, and to learn from them.

Bruce Lee has a deep belief in his own power and his ability to survive any change and to emerge victoriously from any difficulty. Bruce has tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, he pursues his desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and he may be somewhat compulsive, even fanatical at times. Bruce likes to live intensely and has no respect for people who are weak, who avoid confronting life and their own destiny.
