Although Jay Sean appears gentle and sympathetic toward others (as explained in the previous chapter), he is also a "warrior". Sean sometimes feels torn between these two facets of his character: the sensitive, tenderhearted, home-loving side, and the assertive, competitive, risk-taking side. People who first meet Jay Sean often think that he is a "softy", but later find out that he is strong willed and pursues his goals aggressively.

He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Jay Sean believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Sean's gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.

Jay Sean craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Jay likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.

Jay Sean loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then he is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes and introduce some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are tantamount to death for him. He also frequently tries to accomplish his goals through anger or temper tantrums. Jay Sean would gain much by learning to slow down, relax and sometimes just let things be, however his energetic, restless nature rarely allows Jay Sean to do so.

His career, reputation and public image are very important to Sean. Jay Sean has a strong desire to be influential or make his mark on the world. He is not satisfied with the personal sphere alone; his ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for his unique effort and gifts. Jay Sean may undervalue the personal or inner facet of life.

Jay Sean is loving and well loved by others, and has a strong need for relationships that offer kindness, friendship and affection. His artistic and creative powers are also well developed and Jay does everything in a harmonious, gracious, pleasing manner. Aesthetics are very important to Sean, as are his personal appearance and attractiveness.

Jay Sean feels that he has the support of his family or others in his environment for his creative efforts and personal goals, which enables him to act with confidence. He is able to satisfy both his need to be an individual and his need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. He is in harmony with himself and is therefore an effective individual.

Although Jay Sean prefers harmony and accord, he also has a confrontational side.

While Jay Sean deeply appreciates beauty and has a great desire for love, he is in no way frivolous or indiscriminate in his affections. Sean can be very frugal and sparing with both money and emotions.

While Jay Sean does have a strong drive, he frequently holds himself back. One of his challenges lies in learning to endure frustration and to patiently overcome the obstacles in his life (or his own internal caution and resistance!).

However he also has a more somber side, which keeps Sean's optimism from becoming ungrounded or overblown. Jay Sean tends to seesaw between his faith, vision and high aspirations, and his caution and realism (or fear!). In any case, a lack of support and approval, a great deal of responsibility at an early age and an underlying feeling that he can never quite measure up may hold Sean back. While he may encounter a great deal of adversity and struggle alone through many of life's trials, this makes Jay Sean tough and determined. However, Sean should beware of becoming cynical, too hard on himself, and too demanding and critical of others.

Jay Sean has a strong need to be with people whom he is emotionally close to. He is very sensitive to others emotional needs, lending a sympathetic ear to their problems. Peace and harmony in his personal surrounding and relationships are very important to Sean.

Both sensitive and sensuous, Jay blends charm and energy. Jay Sean has a healthy sexuality and a good balance between activity and passivity. He may be fond of singing, dancing, music and drama. Romance comes easily to Jay, and his romantic relationships are passionate.

Jay Sean has a strong will and the desire to be successful no matter what obstacles or resistance he has to overcome. Whatever he does, he knows what he wants to get out of it and drives toward that end with great vigor.

He may lack direction and drive and tends to compare himself unfavorably to others. Sean alternates between caution and unrealistic expectations and lets others expect too much of him. But Jay Sean plods forward steadily, reaching success later in life.

Jay Sean tends to become excited and upset at the slightest cause, generating tension with others. Jay also could encounter strange experiences or coincidences with others. He may have a feeling of being different than others and he wants to be his own person.
