Behind Bardem's rather lighthearted, witty and restless demeanor described in the previous chapter, lies a sensitive, poetic soul. Javier Bardem may cover up his sensitivity with light banter and cleverness - or he may use his verbal and communication skills to express his imagination, kindness and refined sensitivity.

At heart he is very gentle, impressionable and receptive - a dreamer. The world of his imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to Javier Bardem as anything in the outer world, though he may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting his inner experiences in a way others can understand. There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Javier Bardem between his conscious attitudes and aspirations and his deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Javier may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with his subconscious desires.
