Groucho Marx motivation
Though Groucho Marx at first seems rather intense, reserved and self-contained (as described on the previous page), he is really quite social and interested in people. And, while he is passionate and emotional, he is also quite capable of being fair, reasonable and rational as discussed below.
Harmony and balance are his keynotes. Groucho Marx instinctively understands the need to accommodate other people's interests and desires, and he is always fair and willing to meet others half way. Tactful, diplomatic, and quite socially aware, Groucho does all he can to avoid conflict and discord. His spirit is one of cooperation and compromise, and he often achieves through charm and discretion what would have been impossible to achieve with a direct, forceful approach.
Getting along with and pleasing others may be too important to Marx since he can be too dependent on the approval and opinions of other to make his own decisions. Marx will rarely act without seeking the counsel and feedback of other people. He prefers sharing and doing things with others rather than on his own. Being alone feels very unnatural to Groucho Marx, and he has a strong need for a partner and intimate one-on-one relationships.
Groucho Marx invests a great deal of his energy in personal love relationships and he is very idealistic and romantic about marriage. Groucho Marx seeks a partner who is his equal intellectually, and who is capable of a mental relationship as well as a physical and emotional one. He makes a thoughtful, considerate friend or lover, and he enjoys the traditional symbols of love - courtship, flowers, etc. Marx perceives relationships like an art that requires time, attention and creative effort. Groucho Marx appreciates a partner who is subtle and polished, never coarse or blunt.
Fairness and equality, both in his personal relationships and in the world, are extremely important to him. If Groucho Marx fights about anything, it is often about something he feels is unfair and unbalanced. Balance is very important to Groucho. He believes in moderation in all things and avoids fanaticism and extremism at all costs.
Groucho Marx also has a strong need for beautiful, harmonious surroundings and a natural sense of artistic style and grace, which is reflected in the way Marx dresses and furnishes his home and workspace. Everything must be aesthetically pleasing and appropriate. Working with people as a counselor, advisor, consultant, or negotiator, or in an artistic field such as design or photography would be fulfilling to him.
Leading groups and classes, and being involved in community efforts, social activities, events or movements are areas where Groucho Marx really shines and expresses his creativity. An awareness of politics or the larger social impact of individual actions is natural to him.
Groucho Marx tends to see things from his perspective only and to be rather subjective. He also enjoys talking and expressing his views but does not always listen as well. Groucho Marx has a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and he needs constant mental stimulation and activity.
He is direct, energetic, sometimes aggressive and combative. Groucho Marx often feels that he needs to fight to get what he wants, and he tends to have a "me-first" attitude that angers or irritates others. He is hasty, restless, impatient and sometimes reckless.
Along with his energy and drive, Groucho Marx has high ideals and an active fantasy life. There is a dreamer and an idealist in Marx, as well as a doer and a fighter. Groucho wants to win but not at the expense of others, and this may be somewhat of a dilemma for him.
He is imaginative and sensitive to anything colorful, beautiful or magical. He is attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, music and mysticism. His spiritual values color Groucho's whole perspective and approach to life. He is idealistic and perhaps impractical.
Groucho Marx deeply believes in his own power and his ability to survive any change and emerge victorious from any difficulty. Groucho has tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, he pursues his desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and he may be somewhat compulsive and even fanatical at times. Groucho likes to live intensely and has no respect for people who are weak or avoid confronting life and their own destiny.
Groucho Marx has a sense of good fellowship and comradeship and is very much at ease in contact with others. Marx works successfully with others in his community, groups or associations and may get some assistance from some very powerful and influential people.
He is well aware of his limitations and has a strong desire to go his own way in life. There is a note of gravity to Groucho's personality and he appears somewhat somber. It is not easy for Groucho Marx to relax and enjoy and he prefers to work in seclusion.
