Groucho Marx has a penchant for order and precision, and an almost compulsive attention to detail. He is often hypercritical and can be such a demanding perfectionist that he discourages himself or others from even attempting something that will not be done exactly the way Marx knows it should be done.

He frequently over analyze or pick things apart mentally. Groucho Marx may be something of a hypochondriac also. Groucho must learn that he does not have to rationally understand everything in order for it to be valid, and also to relax his unnecessarily high or strict standards.

He is very conscientious, responsible, and concerned with his duty, his public image and reputation, and becoming a person of stature in the world. Groucho Marx understands the need for hard work and careful planning in order to accomplish anything substantial and he is capable of much self-discipline and patience once he sets his sights on a goal.

But Groucho Marx is very judgmental and hard on himself if he fails to attain success, and he can become dry, bitter, or cynical if the world does not recognize his efforts.

Groucho Marx strives and struggles a great deal with his ideals or spiritual aspirations. He may go through periods of self-denial, asceticism, and in-depth study of religious philosophy and spiritual practices, or he may lose heart and become cynical about religious ideals; however, he can never quite divorce himself from his idealistic concerns.

Once he decides what he wants to do, Groucho Marx will pursue his goal tenaciously and, if necessary, sacrifice a great deal for his deeply felt convictions. This trait tends to make Groucho feel a little out of step with others. Groucho Marx takes things a little more seriously and has an inclination to be somewhat of a fanatic, although probably not flamboyantly so; as a result, others may not be aware of how deeply Groucho feels and how driven he is about the things that are important to him. Groucho Marx has a deep inner resolve and is willing to struggle to do the things that are really meaningful to him, rather than follow an easier but less meaningful course in life.

His disposition is somewhat melancholic and Groucho Marx could have a rather pessimistic outlook. Groucho has an inner need to be alone and to deeply meditate on his thoughts. Groucho Marx takes life seriously and may have been taught early on to learn from his mistakes.

Groucho Marx needs to take what he has learned (either through formal education or his own questing and life experience) and share it with others, communicate it or express it in a way that can benefit others. Knowledge and understanding, which does not enhance either Groucho's quality of life or that of persons in his world, is of little real value. Putting Marx's understanding, philosophy, and convictions into practice in his daily relationships, and in the multiple choices he makes every day, will enable Groucho Marx to really test his belief system and discover more about life.

When under stress, Groucho Marx is apt to seek refuge in imagining that the grass is greener elsewhere, rather than working with what is at hand. Groucho Marx needs to cultivate his ability to live in the present!

It is in relationships that are more than superficial or casual - in particular in cases where Groucho Marx has merged emotionally, legally, or financially with another person - that he is most likely to wrestle with these issues. Marx will see these issues arise in close partnerships of any kind, especially when there is a mutual dependency involved. Dealing with in-laws, inheritances, and legal matters involving joint custody, shared assets, and resources is also a part of this.

Groucho has an extremely magnetic personality along with strong sexual attraction. Groucho Marx tends to put his heart and soul into his work and may prefer to work with partners of the opposite sex.
