Forbes Masson's fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized by the four astrological elements. Forbes Masson needs to develop the ability to stand back, reflect on life and analyze a situation logically. It is also essential that Masson learn to communicate. Because Forbes senses and feels so much, he may expect others to know what he is experiencing without filling them in. As mentioned earlier, words do not come easily to Forbes Masson but he would benefit greatly by learning to articulate and express himself verbally - otherwise he can stew in his own feelings too much, or find himself at the mercy of his own poorly-understood emotional patterns.

Fortunately, as you will read in the next chapter, Forbes Masson does have an active, spirited way of expressing himself, which helps him overcome his tendency towards indolence. He picks himself up and keeps going after being emotionally bruised. He is a survivor. Forbes Masson can become very angry when frustrated, so he should try and find ways to vent anger when necessary.
