Though Cole Porter seems rather cautious and conservative (as discussed in the previous chapter), he has a much more playful, humorous side as well. Moreover, the combination of his attention to detail and cautious, circumspect approach to life, coupled with his youthful curiosity and quick mind makes Cole mentally sharp, articulate and clever.

Cole Porter is, in many ways, an eternal child. His mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and his attention span is often quite brief. Porter grasps ideas quickly and once his initial curiosity has been satisfied, he is ready to move on. Cole Porter craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.

Cole Porter has a philosophical turn of mind and is concerned with seeking answers to the big questions of life or getting the overview of any situation. Abstract concepts and/or plans for the future occupy his mind much of the time.

Cole has big aspirations and the desire to succeed in life in a grand way. Cole Porter tends to exaggerate, promise more than is feasible and misjudge by being overly optimistic. However, he never gives up on his hopes for the future. Porter tends to be restless and discontent with the responsibilities and limitations of life.

Cole Porter has a basic need to fit in with others and is always willing to cooperate. He enjoys working with others as a team and is a well liked comrade.
