Akio Morita motivation
Though Akio Morita seems steady and down-to-earth (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he is also quite idealistic, as described below. He may sometimes feel torn between maintaining stability and the status quo versus experimenting with the unconventional and stirring up change. Akio Morita has a keen business sense and is very effective in any organization or large business.
He is a freedom-loving, strong-willed and independent-minded individual, and he insists upon living his own life as he sees fit, even if it means ignoring convention and tradition. In personal relationships, Akio Morita cannot be owned or possessed, and while he is willing to share himself with another, he does not always adjust easily to the emotional give and take of close relationships. Though intellectually open, Morita can be enormously stubborn, opinionated and inflexible on a one-to-one level. Akio has strong convictions and feelings about fairness and equality, and he tries to abide by them; however, his ideals about how people "should" treat one another do not always take into account human weaknesses, differences and needs. Akio Morita probably dislikes sentimentality and traditional gender roles and "games".
He is fair, intelligent, objective and rational and he often let his head rule rather than his heart. Akio Morita seems rather self-sufficient and emotionally detached because he is capable of putting aside his personal feelings and viewing things dispassionately. But once Akio makes up his mind on an issue, it is difficult to dissuade him, and he can be rather dogmatic.
Akio Morita thinks in broad terms and is concerned with the world beyond his own personal sphere - his town, nation, or even planet. He is likely to become involved in, or show a keen interest in, community endeavors, social organizations and groups of all kinds. He enjoys being part of a group endeavor, and he often assumes the role of organizing, managing or supervising group activities.
Forward-looking and progressive, he harbors great hopes for the future. Akio Morita stays current and up to date, and responds to contemporary cultural trends, both in terms of personal style and ideas. When young, Akio Morita was very influenced by peer pressure and by all the "latest crazes". Akio has an experimental mind and is attracted to novelty.
His strong points include his concern for human welfare and social betterment, his sense of fairness and democratic spirit, and his vision. His faults are his stubbornness and inflexibility, and a tendency to be very obtuse and insensitive when it comes to personal feelings and human needs.
His career, reputation, and public image are very important to Morita. Akio Morita has a strong desire to be influential or make his mark on the world. The merely personal sphere does not satisfy him; his ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for his unique effort and gifts. Akio Morita may undervalue the personal or inner side of life.
Akio Morita tends to see things from his perspective only and to be rather subjective. He also enjoys talking and expressing his views but does not always listen as well. Akio Morita has a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and he needs constant mental stimulation and activity.
There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Akio Morita, between his conscious attitudes and aspirations, and his deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs, and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Akio may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with his subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in his body may well be a signal that Akio Morita is denying or suppressing the messages from his subconscious or emotional self.
Ideally, Akio Morita will learn to accept the two quite different aspects of his and to express both of them. If he cannot do this, Morita is apt to attract many relationships into his life with people who reflect his denied or repressed qualities, and who seem to make his life difficult. (Read also chapter 4 in order to get a better picture of the duality described here.)
He is apt to be a fanatic in some way, and cannot go halfway in anything he does. His extremism may seem (and actually be) obsessive and somewhat blind. That is, Akio Morita does not always consciously understand why he feels as driven or intense about a given course of action as he does. There is a strong element of fate or inevitability in Morita's life. A significant death or loss in his close relationships is apt to profoundly influence Akio Morita and shape important decisions in his life, and he may consciously seek out intense, life-or-death experiences as well.
His emotions are very intense and Akio Morita is excited quite easily. Love is very important to him and he is constantly seeking emotional fulfillment, but he will not waste time with casual relationships.
