Warner Baxter motivation
Although Warner Baxter initially appears to be the essence of tact and diplomacy (as described on the previous page), he is not as gentle and peace loving as he may seem. Although Warner Baxter prefers harmony, he is willing to fight or aggressively pursue his own interest if need be. People who get to know Warner more than just superficially realize there is much more to him than his exterior coat of charm.
He may be at odds with himself at times because he has both a strong urge for togetherness and a powerful yearning for independence.
He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Warner Baxter believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Baxter's gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
Warner Baxter craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Warner likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.
Warner Baxter loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then he is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes and introduce some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are tantamount to death for him. He is not afraid of trying something that has never been done before, and even though he may sometimes be perceived as a fool, Warner Baxter also discovers, invents and initiates things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following his own star are the breath of life for Baxter, and he wilts (or gets very frustrated and angry) if he cannot do this.
He is spontaneous, impulsive, direct, enthusiastic and assertive. Warner Baxter believes in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and he perceives himself as a strong, even invincible, person. Warner Baxter hates being ill or in a position of dependency. Accepting his own human limitations and emotional needs is often difficult for him.
He is basically aggressive in his attitudes and less adept at relating to others, picking up on subtle messages and nuances, listening, nurturing and harmonizing. He is often so fired up about his own projects or goals that he inadvertently runs over or ignores other people's feelings and interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others' contributions, ideas and feelings would be highly instrumental in improving Baxter's relationships. His impatience to get on with things causes Warner Baxter to be rather insensitive, thereby alienating others unnecessarily. He also frequently tries to accomplish his goals through anger or temper tantrums. Warner Baxter would gain much by learning to slow down, relax and sometimes just let things be, however his energetic, restless nature rarely allows Warner Baxter to do so.
His energies are directed toward either honing his professional techniques, skills and abilities or "perfecting", refining, and improving himself as a person. Critical analysis and attention to minute detail are intrinsic in either process. Warner Baxter is highly motivated to strive for a state of wholeness or optimal functioning and he is quite a perfectionist!
Baxter can easily become overly identified or involved with the task he performs, with his work, or with his own health and "growth process".
Warner has big aspirations and the desire to succeed in life in a grand way. Warner Baxter tends to exaggerate, promise more than is feasible and misjudge by being overly optimistic. However, he never gives up on his hopes for the future. Baxter tends to be restless and discontent with the responsibilities and limitations of life.
However he also has a more somber side, which keeps Baxter's optimism from becoming ungrounded or overblown. Warner Baxter tends to seesaw between his faith, vision and high aspirations, and his caution and realism (or fear!). He cannot and does not rely on good luck or grace alone, and he accepts the need for hard work. His skeptical or "somber" side is described below.
Realistic and practical, Warner Baxter sets goals for himself that are modest enough for him to actually achieve. He is able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for Baxter possesses self-discipline, concentration and perseverance. Warner Baxter also has a strong sense of responsibility and is very conscientious about fulfilling his obligations. Baxter often does things because he feels it is expected of him.
Warner Baxter tends to think and act bravely and has a positive and firm demeanor. Warner has what it takes to make his own way in life. He may be a bit excitable, but never shy away from a good argument.
