Victor Hugo motivation
Although Victor Hugo has very strong feelings and often reacts to situations passionately (as described on the previous page), he is basically very tender and softhearted. There are at least two sides to Hugo: a rather jealous and guarded side, and a much more lenient, generous and forgiving side (discussed below).
At heart he is very gentle, impressionable and receptive - a dreamer. The world of his imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to Victor Hugo as anything in the outer world, though he may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting his inner experiences in a way others can understand. Mystical, artistic, musical, emotional and imaginative, he has a rich inner life, though Hugo may seem rather unobtrusive and quiet outwardly. Victor Hugo usually keeps to himself.
Victor shows great sensitivity and empathy toward others and often senses things psychically or intuitively which prove to be correct. He is tolerant, forgiving and nonjudgmental, accepting people unconditionally regardless of their flaws, mistakes, or outward appearance. Victor has deep compassion for the suffering of any fellow creature and he often feels the pain of others as if it were his own. Victor Hugo sympathizes with the needy, the disadvantaged and the misfits of society. He is capable of giving selflessly, living a life of devoted and compassionate service to others, as a healer, physician, social worker or minister. However, Hugo tends to give indiscriminately, to let others take advantage of his kindness, and to encourage the weak to remain so by becoming dependent upon him. Victor has little sense of boundaries, or of knowing when to say "no". Moderation and self-discipline are not his strong points.
He is a lover and a peacemaker rather than a fighter, and he tries to avoid open conflict. Hugo will patiently ignore or "tune out" problems and hope they will go away by themselves, rather than confront them directly and Hugo tends to lack the positive, fighting spirit that is sometimes necessary to overcome challenges. He is fluid, open, nonresistant and somewhat passive. Victor Hugo does things in a subtle, often covert, manner.
His gifts may also lie in the realm of the creative, artistic, or musical, for he possesses great sensitivity, inspiration and limitless imagination. Victor Hugo has a strong affinity for beauty and love.
His faults include a tendency to be lazy and negligent, and to wallow in self-pity rather than take strong, definite action to change his life for the better. He also tends to become so detached from his immediate environment that he lives in a disorderly, chaotic sort of hodgepodge, though this probably bothers those around Hugo more than it bothers him.
He is a private person and inclined to withdraw in very public and impersonal social settings. Victor Hugo prefers to work at home or in a very personal small business.
Hugo invests a lot of his creative energy into his home, family relationships, and inner life.
Victor Hugo is loving and well loved by others, and has a strong need for relationships that offer kindness, friendship and affection. His artistic and creative powers are also well developed and Victor does everything in a harmonious, gracious, pleasing manner. Aesthetics are very important to Hugo, as are his personal appearance and attractiveness.
While Victor Hugo deeply appreciates beauty and has a great desire for love, he is in no way frivolous or indiscriminate in his affections. Hugo can be very frugal and sparing with both money and emotions.
He may have had a demanding and perfectionist or absent father. In any case, a lack of support and approval, a great deal of responsibility at an early age and an underlying feeling that he can never quite measure up may hold Hugo back. While he may encounter a great deal of adversity and struggle alone through many of life's trials, this makes Victor Hugo tough and determined. However, Hugo should beware of becoming cynical, too hard on himself, and too demanding and critical of others.
Although he takes himself and his responsibilities seriously, there is also a part of Victor Hugo that rebels against rules and restrictions and the need to contend with outside authority. Hugo can feel torn between conforming to the rules or fulfilling his obligations, and breaking free of them. His wilder side will now be described.
At times Victor Hugo may feel an uncontrollable urge to radically alter his direction in life or to act in ways that seem eccentric or at least highly atypical. When his life becomes too predictable, Victor may do something to upset the status quo, sometimes without realizing why or how he is doing it. These impulses may seem at odds with his conscious intent and desires for himself, and can be unsettling. However, there is a streak of unconventionality and creative genius in Victor Hugo that needs to be expressed now and then.
Inwardly he is zealous and fanatical, though he may hide his personal desires and intentions, as well as the intensity of his feelings. He is driven by a deep inner sense of destiny and mission and an almost compulsive desire for personal recognition. Victor is infatuated with power, incredibly willful and stubbornly fixated on achieving greatness or being someone Special. Victor Hugo tends to worship heroes who have powerful personal magnetism and charisma, and he often seeks to emulate them. Victor has potential for tremendous good or tremendous evil.
Victor Hugo seems to have an emotional and physical unrest and he always have to be on the move. Victor could find it difficult to control himself and he tends to get angry and upset easily. Eccentric and individualistic, he can create a stir wherever he goes.
