Although Tullio Levi-Civita enjoys conversing and interacting with people (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he also has a self-reliant, independent spirit. Levi-Civita can go it alone if need be because Tullio Levi-Civita likes to be a free agent. He likes to exchange ideas, but as stated below, he does not always listen.

He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Tullio Levi-Civita believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Levi-Civita's gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.

Tullio Levi-Civita craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Tullio likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.
