drive and ambition
He is aspiring, enterprising, and forever following some bright and distant star, planning some new venture or investigating new potentials. He is definitely "upwardly mobile" in either a material or spiritual sense. T. S. Eliot aims high and is not content simply with a quiet, secure existence. Thomas likes to stretch his limits, to see how far he can go, and to take risks. He is a positive thinker, expects success for himself, and is philosophical about failures. Eliot is flexible and he bounces back from disappointment rather quickly, usually with another hopeful new idea he wants to try. His enthusiasm and confidence are contagious and enable T. S. Eliot to enlist the aid and support he needs for his projects. However, T. S. Eliot sometimes promises more than he can actually achieve, because he is overly optimistic or pays insufficient attention to the practicalities involved.
He also tends to get distracted and to have too many things going at once. Although it is very difficult for him, there are times when T. S. Eliot simply must develop commitment, perseverance, and persistence in order to make his dreams and goals a concrete reality. Too often T. S. Eliot falls short of what he could attain because he is unwilling to persist through the difficult or less exciting times.
He also enjoys competition and usually does not take it too seriously. Sports and entrepreneurial endeavors are good ways to channel Thomas' energy.
T. S. Eliot often buys things on impulse and he can be reckless with his material resources and money. Thomas has certain possessions that he is extremely attached to and possessive of.
He is highly ambitious and will drive himself (and others) mercilessly when he wants to achieve something. Competition can become a deadly serious and rather ugly thing with T. S. Eliot, as if his very life depended upon winning or conquering. His relationships with men may be especially fraught with conflicts and power struggle. T. S. Eliot is capable of tremendous effort, but he must beware of burning himself out.
T. S. Eliot seems to be in a constant state of deep inner turmoil, is excited easily and subject to changes of mood. Driven by inner compulsion he may do things that invite quarrels or disputes in his relationships and because of his hasty reactions Eliot also is prone to injuries.
In meeting his challenges and difficulties in life, T. S. Eliot does have allies: his ability to tolerate tension and ambivalence, his ability to compromise, and a capacity to endure discomfort. Remaining steady in the midst of crisis or sudden change is an aspect of this, as well as knowing when to wait and when to make necessary changes. Thomas' timing is usually good.
To achieve his long-range goals and ambitions, the process must be interesting and mentally stimulating, as Eliot gets bored with work that is not challenging intellectually. T. S. Eliot needs variety and social stimulation as well. One problem he may have is saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, or to the wrong person. Thomas needs to watch his words. His tongue or even his sense of humor can get T. S. Eliot in trouble with superiors at times.
Eliot may seem to have a magically easy road to success and public recognition. Doors open for T. S. Eliot and opportunities abound. He may have more offers than he can follow up on. Mostly this is due to a positive and generous attitude on his part. Thomas' ambitions in life may have a spiritual component - based on a concern for social betterment or humanitarian ideals.
Thomas has two different career paths which appeal to him, and which may at some point be blended. The first has to do with the arts, entertainment, film, or music industry. The other is an involvement in the ministry, social betterment, charity or volunteer work. T. S. Eliot has a high degree of sensitivity and this compassion is apt to be a key factor in his professional decisions and overall goals in life.
