Behind Clark's rather jovial, open, enthusiastic demeanor (as described on the previous page), there is a very different side to him - deeper, more serious, and more emotionally intense, as described below. His optimism and idealism are tempered and balanced by a certain skepticism and a sense of the darker side of life and of people.

Quiet, deep, emotionally complex and intensely private, he is not a person who is easy to get to know and understand. Ron Clark is extremely sensitive but disinclined to show it, and he only allows a special few into his inner world. Like a wary animal, he is cautious and mistrustful of those he does not know until "he sniffs them out". He is highly instinctive and intuitive. Ron Clark usually has a strong, immediate gut reaction to people, even though he may be unable to clearly articulate why he feels the way he does. His feelings and perceptions go deeper than words.

Ron Clark also has a powerful need for deep emotional relationships and he forms very intense love bonds and attachments. He is possessive and often jealous of anyone or anything that he perceives as a threat to his relationship with someone he loves. When Ron Clark commits himself to someone or something, he is wholeheartedly devoted and expects complete loyalty in return. Ron merges with or "marries" the person he loves at a very deep level and therefore separations are extremely painful for him, and often stormy and nasty. When Clark has been wounded, he is not inclined to turn the other cheek and will retaliate if at all possible. Ron will most certainly never forget the hurt and he often harbors grievances and resentment for a very long time. Forgiveness does not come easily to him.

Whatever he does, Ron does with passion and fervor, and he often goes to extremes. Clark can be hot or cold, but never lukewarm about anything. Clark can also be very narrow-minded: either he is 100% involved in something or it does not exist for him at all. Rarely is Ron Clark emotionally detached and objective. He definitely has a fanatical streak. He is also immensely strong-willed and his tenacity in pursuing his objectives often borders on obsession. He is filled with fierce pride, courage and emotional strength.

Ron Clark loves mysteries and is deeply attracted to the hidden, dark, secret side of life. Ron never takes things at face value and is always probing beneath the surface of people and situations to discover what is really going on. Ron Clark tends to be more of a cynic than an idealist.

His career, reputation and public image are very important to Clark. Ron Clark has a strong desire to be influential or make his mark on the world. He is not satisfied with the personal sphere alone; his ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for his unique effort and gifts. Ron Clark may undervalue the personal or inner facet of life.

There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Ron Clark between his conscious attitudes and aspirations and his deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Ron may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with his subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in his body may well be a signal that Ron Clark is denying or suppressing the messages from his subconscious or emotional self.

Ideally, Ron Clark will learn to accept and express these two different sides of himself. Should he fail to do so, Clark is likely to be drawn into many relationships with people who reflect his denied or repressed qualities and seem to make his life difficult. His life is apt to be blessed with more than his share of helpful friends, fortuitous relationships, and doors opening up to him at just the right time. Because Ron Clark is usually willing to share and to give back to others in a generous way, he continues to generate success in his life no matter how unfortunate prevailing circumstances are. Ron should beware, however, of becoming an opportunist.
