Robert De Niro motivation
As described in the previous chapter, Robert De Niro instinctively protects, nurtures and supports others, and as discussed below, he loves to be a leader. The combination of these two sides of De Niro results in his being a good leader of his family, or any club or group to which he belongs. Robert De Niro treats people with a lot of personal attention and care and is appreciated as a result.
He also often takes things too personally and many times Robert De Niro thinks that things are directed at him personally when they are not.
Behind De Niro's rather gentle, soft appearance he is very willful and stubborn, a surprise to people as they get to know him better.
Proud and intensely individual, Robert De Niro really wants to stand out, to be the very best he can be, and to be recognized and appreciated for his unique contributions. Doing something well and being respected for it is extremely important to him, and he cannot tolerate being relegated to the background, taking orders from others, or being "just one of the team". Robert De Niro must put his personal stamp on whatever he does, and direct his own course in life. Robert De Niro needs to have a place where he can shine, express himself creatively, and be the one in charge.
Robert has big dreams and the determination, spirit, vitality and enthusiasm to realize them. Robert De Niro also has a noble, romantic heart, and a love of the dramatic, colorful, and extravagant.
For Robert De Niro, it is true that "the entire world's a stage" and he secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) desires to be the star or hero of the play. Robert wants to be great and to receive the love and applause of an adoring audience, even if the "audience" is just one other special person. He needs someone to believe in him and his dreams. Though De Niro appears radiantly self-confident and independent, he is actually very dependent on the affirmation, love and recognition of others. He cannot bear going unnoticed or unappreciated.
Robert De Niro also loves wholeheartedly and generously and really knows how to make the person he loves feel special. Robert De Niro loves the magic of "being in love" and knows how to keep the romance alive in his relationships. He is also immensely loyal and will defend his loved ones and stand by them to the end - as long as they never offend his pride or betray his trust. However, Robert De Niro likes to be the strong one in his relationships and he really does not share the leading role very easily. Ideally, Robert needs to find a person who is as strong-willed as he is, but who will not try to dominate or compete with him.
De Niro's strengths are his zest and love for life, his creative power and his warm and generous heart. His primary fault is his tendency to be very egocentric, and so concerned with the impression he is making and with his own creative self-expression that he forgets there is another, larger world that does not revolve around him.
Ownership gives Robert De Niro a sense of security, and he has a strong attachment to his possessions. Robert also has a natural instinct or understanding of economics, finance, trade, and appraising the value of merchandise.
He is direct, energetic, sometimes aggressive and combative. Robert De Niro often feels that he needs to fight to get what he wants, and he tends to have a "me-first" attitude that angers or irritates others. He is hasty, restless, impatient and sometimes reckless.
While Robert De Niro does have a lot of drive, he frequently holds himself back. Learning to endure frustration and to patiently overcome the obstacles in his life (or his own internal caution and resistance!) is one of his tasks.
Robert De Niro has a healthy amount of self-control and self-discipline. De Niro also radiates a rather responsible, trustworthy, solid feeling about himself which will win him the confidence of others, especially his superiors.
De Niro depends a great deal on other people's reactions to him and rarely acts until he sees how he affects others. Robert De Niro must learn to be direct and straightforward, rather than evasive or manipulative. Robert should also learn to rely heavily on his hunches.
