Although Richard Dawkins enjoys conversing and interacting with people (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he also has a self-reliant, independent spirit. Dawkins can go it alone if need be because Richard Dawkins likes to be a free agent. He likes to exchange ideas, but as stated below, he does not always listen.

He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Richard Dawkins believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Dawkins' gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.

Richard Dawkins craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Richard likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.

He is not satisfied with the personal sphere alone; his ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for his unique effort and gifts. Richard Dawkins may undervalue the personal or inner facet of life.

Richard Dawkins is loving and well loved by others, and has a strong need for relationships that offer kindness, friendship and affection. His artistic and creative powers are also well developed and Richard does everything in a harmonious, gracious, pleasing manner. Aesthetics are very important to Dawkins, as are his personal appearance and attractiveness.

Richard Dawkins deeply believes in his own power and his ability to survive any change and emerge victorious from any difficulty. Richard has tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, he pursues his desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and he may be somewhat compulsive and even fanatical at times. Richard likes to live intensely and has no respect for people who are weak or avoid confronting life and their own destiny.
