Peter Finch motivation
Though Finch may seem breezy, independent and freedom loving (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he is in fact not completely happy without a partner. He enjoys being on the move and exploring new territory, but wants a traveling companion! Finch yearns for fulfilling, yet non-restricting relationships.
Harmony and balance are his keynotes. Peter Finch instinctively understands the need to accommodate other people's interests and desires, and he is always fair and willing to meet others half way. Tactful, diplomatic, and quite socially aware, Peter does all he can to avoid conflict and discord. His spirit is one of cooperation and compromise, and he often achieves through charm and discretion what would have been impossible to achieve with a direct, forceful approach.
Getting along with and pleasing others may be too important to Finch since he can be too dependent on the approval and opinions of other to make his own decisions. Finch will rarely act without seeking the counsel and feedback of other people. He prefers sharing and doing things with others rather than on his own. Being alone feels very unnatural to Peter Finch, and he has a strong need for a partner and intimate one-on-one relationships.
Peter Finch invests a great deal of his energy in personal love relationships and he is very idealistic and romantic about marriage. Peter Finch seeks a partner who is his equal intellectually, and who is capable of a mental relationship as well as a physical and emotional one. He makes a thoughtful, considerate friend or lover, and he enjoys the traditional symbols of love - courtship, flowers, etc. Finch perceives relationships like an art that requires time, attention and creative effort. Peter Finch appreciates a partner who is subtle and polished, never coarse or blunt.
Fairness and equality, both in his personal relationships and in the world, are extremely important to him. If Peter Finch fights about anything, it is often about something he feels is unfair and unbalanced. Balance is very important to Peter. He believes in moderation in all things and avoids fanaticism and extremism at all costs.
Peter Finch also has a strong need for beautiful, harmonious surroundings and a natural sense of artistic style and grace, which is reflected in the way Finch dresses and furnishes his home and workspace. Everything must be aesthetically pleasing and appropriate. Working with people as a counselor, advisor, consultant, or negotiator, or in an artistic field such as design or photography would be fulfilling to him.
World travel, foreign cultures, and studies which expand his intellectual horizons and broaden his understanding of the world are very attractive to Finch.
Peter Finch has a philosophical turn of mind and is concerned with seeking answers to the big questions of life or getting the overview of any situation. Abstract concepts and/or plans for the future occupy his mind much of the time.
Finch occasionally gamble, splurge, or overextend himself in ways that may be quite at odds with his usual way of doing things. Exaggerating his accomplishments or spending too much in order to impress others and build up his own self-esteem can be a problem. However, Peter Finch also has faith and an optimistic side, which enable him to recover from the negative consequences of his excesses, and to learn from them.
He is very open and receptive to the spiritual, intangible, and subtle realms, and can easily receive or give conscious guidance based on his inner attunement. Peter Finch takes many things for granted, such as the existence of an afterlife or the effects of subtle influences like aromatherapy, spiritual healing, etc. These things seem obvious to Peter, whereas to many people they are a matter of conjecture or even illusory. Peter Finch may not realize he has spiritual gifts because they come so naturally to him.
He is intensely willful, zealous, and fanatical though Peter often hides the intensity of his feelings and his personal motives and desires. Finch is infatuated with power and has an almost compulsive desire for personal recognition and the desire to be "somebody". Peter Finch tends to worship heroes who have powerful personal magnetism and charisma and often seeks to emulate them. Peter Finch both fears, and is intensely fascinated with, death and the hidden, secret, dark side of life.
