Paul R. Ehrlich
Behind Ehrlich's rather serious demeanor (described in the previous chapter), he has a much more frivolous, inquisitive and open side. The self-discipline and self-control mentioned earlier help to balance some of the restlessness and flightiness described below. Paul has both a strong "adult" component in his nature (mature, careful, realistic), and a strong "child" component (mischievous, playful, fanciful).
Paul Ehrlich is, in many ways, an eternal child. His mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and his attention span is often quite brief. Ehrlich grasps ideas quickly and once his initial curiosity has been satisfied, he is ready to move on. Paul Ehrlich craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.
It may be hard for Paul Ehrlich to decide just where his talents and true vocation lie, for he has a multitude of interests and is loathe limiting himself by concentrating on just one. He is easily distracted by all of the other fascinating possibilities. His curiosity and restlessness propel Paul toward many different experiences in life, and he is willing to taste or try anything once. Doing the same thing over and over again, even if it is something he does well, is tantamount to drudgery for Ehrlich.
Paul Ehrlich lives in his head a great deal - reading, observing, thinking, spinning ideas around - and he needs mental stimulation every bit as much as he needs food and drink. In fact, if Paul had to choose between a good book or movie and a good lunch, he would very likely choose the former. Paul Ehrlich has a creative mind and he often lives by his wits.
He is also a very social creature, with a strong need to communicate and interact with people. He enjoys using and playing with words and has a real flair for getting his ideas across in a clever, interesting, articulate manner. Writing and/or speaking are areas he has talent for.
Paul Ehrlich also has a rather lighthearted and mischievous sense of humor, and often does not take anything too seriously. Though he craves emotional involvement, it is hard for Paul Ehrlich to achieve it, for he is frequently unwilling to commit himself to anything, to take responsibility or to limit his personal freedom and mobility.
His happiness lies in using his creativity and language skills to communicate something meaningful, teach, inspire, or bring people together. Paul has an unbiased mind and can usually offer a fresh, clear, uncluttered perspective. His faults are his lack of constancy and persistence, and his tendency to overlook or ignore deep emotional issues and other people's feelings.
Paul Ehrlich has a very dramatic, creative, expressive nature and he loves to perform. Paul enjoys being the center of attention and he seeks to shine, to excel, and to be outstanding in some unique way. He is very involved in his own creativity and self-expression, and takes great pleasure in developing and using his special talents, whether these are artistic, athletic, or intellectual. Paul Ehrlich has a strong sense of pride.
Ehrlich's subconscious needs and feelings blend well with his conscious intentions and desires, therefore Paul Ehrlich is able to proceed in his life's pursuits relatively unhampered by internal resistance or inconsistency. Paul's male-female relationships will reflect this state of internal harmony also.
Realistic and practical, Paul Ehrlich sets goals for himself that are modest enough for him to actually achieve. He is able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for Ehrlich possesses self-discipline, concentration and perseverance. Paul Ehrlich also has a strong sense of responsibility and is very conscientious about fulfilling his obligations. Ehrlich often does things because he feels it is expected of him.
While he is realistic and conscientious (or overly conscientious), as described above, Paul Ehrlich also has an otherworldly, dreamy, or mystically-inclined side, as described below.
Paul is extremely sensitive and imaginative, and he can get lost in his dreams, fantasies and visions. He is attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, as well as to the world of color, beauty, and emotion. Paul Ehrlich is also drawn to mysticism and he has deep spiritual aspirations and yearnings. Gentle and peace loving, Ehrlich may lack the will and competitive spirit needed to make his way in the world. He is often impractical and may seek to avoid or escape the harsh realities of life.
