In addition to having an independent spirit, as described in the previous chapter, Mia Tyler is also objective, pragmatic and quite ambitious. She is likely to work her way to the top of the ladder in some corporation, academic community or the like through her astute strategies combined with her willingness to take risks. She is subtle, understated, quiet, deep, not easy to get to know intimately, and never superficial. She is a modest person and sometimes overly self-critical. Giving herself (and others) permission to feel, play, be spontaneous and silly, and sometimes weak and vulnerable is not easy for Tyler.

Tyler's strong points are her depth and thoroughness, patience, tenacity and faithfulness. Her faults are a tendency to be rigid and inflexible, and too serious.

Mia Tyler has a philosophical turn of mind and is concerned with seeking answers to the big questions of life or getting the overview of any situation. Abstract concepts and/or plans for the future occupy her mind much of the time.

Mia Tyler often feels that she is at cross purposes with herself, for her conscious intentions and desires conflict with her subconscious emotional needs and drives. She is torn in two different directions. Mia has difficulty satisfying both her need to be an individual and her need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. Moreover, Mia sends out mixed messages so people do not always know how to respond to her or what Mia really wants, thereby creating confusion or conflict in close relationships.
