Lydia Warren motivation
In many ways, Lydia Warren contradicts herself! While she enjoys traveling and adventure (as mentioned in the previous chapter), Warren can be very slow to move. Stability and security are as important to her as exploring new worlds. Lydia Warren needs to find a place in her life to express both urges: the impulse to take risks and to go where she has never gone before, and the need for order, predictability, and staying with the tried-and-true.
She is a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance and constancy. The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of her greatest assets. Once Warren's course is set, she pursues it tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway her from her purpose.
Lydia Warren has a very practical nature; she wants to see concrete, tangible results for her efforts, and she is not one to concoct wild dreams that are unlikely to come into fruition. Most of her "wild dreams" have to do with material achievements, well-being and security, for she has a great love of the physical world and she wants to experience and enjoy it to the full. Though Lydia Warren will work long and persistently, she also has a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and she wants to enjoy what she has worked for. In fact, Warren can be enormously lazy at times and has a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly pleasures. Lydia Warren also loves the beauty of the natural world and she probably prefers a serene country setting to an urban life style.
Basically, her needs are simple and she is easy to please. Lydia Warren has a strong desire for security, stability and peace, and will rarely make changes unless she is forced to do so. She is not very demanding emotionally, though she does crave a great deal of physical closeness and affection. Because of her faithfulness, emotional steadfastness and gentle strength, others often depend upon Warren for support. Though she hates upheaval and sudden changes, Lydia Warren usually maintains her poise and equanimity. Lydia Warren also has an innate sense of harmony with nature, allowing things to grow and unfold in their own time and the patience to nurture something into being - be it a garden, a child, or a creative project. She makes an excellent parent, especially if she follows her instincts more often than "the experts".
Lydia has three major faults: one is her bullheaded obstinacy. The second is her unwillingness to deviate from her safe, predictable routine. And the third is Warren's tendency to always insist upon realism and undervalue the imaginative, speculative, and fanciful - in other words, Lydia Warren lacks the ability to play with ideas and possibilities, and to open her mind to new horizons.
Lydia Warren has a very dramatic, creative, expressive nature and she loves to perform. Lydia enjoys being the center of attention and she seeks to shine, to excel, and to be outstanding in some unique way. She is very involved in her own creativity and self-expression, and takes great pleasure in developing and using her special talents be they artistic, athletic or intellectual. Lydia Warren has a strong sense of pride.
Lydia Warren often feels that she is at cross purposes with herself, for her conscious intentions and desires conflict with her subconscious emotional needs and drives. She is torn in two different directions. Lydia has difficulty satisfying both her need to be an individual and her need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. Moreover, Lydia sends out mixed messages so people do not always know how to respond to her or what Lydia really wants, thereby creating confusion or conflict in close relationships.
