Louis Armstrong drive and ambition
Louis Armstrong seesaws between being too pushy, confrontational, and insistent on doing things his way, and being too eager to please, without a clear, definite goal of his own. Louis Armstrong strives for a balance between acting independently and assertively - and working cooperatively and interdependently with others. He may feel frustrated at times that he cannot simply do what HE wants to, that he must always accommodate the needs and desires of others. Or he may feel hesitant to act in a positive, assertive manner if he does not have the support and approval of other people. Either way, he is not a loner. Louis Armstrong achieves his goals by collaborating and joining forces with others, by being a team player. He is very concerned with the concept of fairness and becomes quite indignant and vocal if he senses someone is being taken advantage of. Louis Armstrong avoids extremism and favors a balanced, moderate approach to living. He is unlikely to push himself too hard or to become fanatically driven to reach his goals.
Louis Armstrong expects to work hard for anything he accomplishes and he has no patience for people who do not pull their own weight. Work is a passion for Louis at times, and he pushes himself too hard. Armstrong can also be too demanding of the people he works with.
If his energy is not invested in a job or career, Louis Armstrong can become fanatic about his health, and may exercise or "work out" vigorously and perhaps excessively.
Armstrong works hard and patiently to achieve his objectives, persevering and continuing on in spite of difficulties and discouragement. Concentrating on a single, clearly defined goal, Louis is able to accomplish much, but he often feels that the way is long and arduous, and that he must struggle on alone, that it is all on his shoulders.
He is capable of great self-control and self-denial and can be a hard task master, expecting far too much of his. He also tends to hold himself back, to doubt his own power and ability. Louis Armstrong feels that he meets with great resistance whenever he tries to assert himself or take initiative. Anger and frustration can be big problems for Louis Armstrong, especially when he tries to work with other people or depend too much on others for support. Louis works best in solitude.
Although he is patient and steady when pursuing an objective, when Louis Armstrong finally loses patience he loses it completely! In addition to having great tenacity and perseverance, Louis has a daring and rebellious side as well:
He enjoys risky, exciting activities and cannot tolerate too much routine, tedium, or inactivity. Unless other factors in his chart suggest staying power and the ability to follow through, Louis Armstrong may be the person who initiates a new venture but cannot happily participate in the ongoing, sustained effort it requires. "Independent" is Armstrong's middle name! Louis Armstrong needs to be a totally free agent, to run his own show. Louis likes to introduce new concepts to people, and then move on.
Patience is not one of his strong virtues and Louis Armstrong does what needs to be done impetuously and hastily, leading to great potential for accidents. Louis Armstrong also has a streak of rebellion in him that could bring disputes and arguments with those around him.
Armstrong is able to combine his vision with sharp perception and intellect, and therefore his actions are guided by common sense. Louis has great verbal ability and the gift of inserting his comments at the right time, but he may find it hard to stop talking.
He is quite passionate, loves children, and is inclined to wish for a large family. In fact, Louis Armstrong is likely to become completely bound up in his marriage and family life.
His role in life is apt to be one of great responsibility and Louis Armstrong takes his tasks very seriously. Certain heaviness weighs on him because of this. He may have been unusually ambitious or mature at a tender age. Louis Armstrong advances and attains his aspirations through dedication and perseverance, rather than fortune.
He may have to overcome something in his background or personal past in order to achieve his long-range goals and ambitions. Sometimes Louis Armstrong is apt to feel pulled in two different directions - what others expect of him or what he needs to do to progress, versus what his old conditioning or his emotional predisposition would have him do. Overcoming the pull of the past is the key.
Armstrong is intensely competitive, and may engage in furious battles of will, numerous conflicts, and possible public controversy, on his way to gaining his objectives. Louis Armstrong could be drawn to activities that are dangerous, in the line of fire, so to speak. He puts himself on the line. Anger or recklessness could be his downfall.
In many ways Louis' rise in the world is an easy one, aided by his personal charm and attractiveness, his ability to please people, and his excellent social instincts. Artistic ambitions are also an aspect of this.
Gaining his professional objectives or advancing in his career often requires considerable sacrifice on Louis' part. Specifically, Louis Armstrong often feels that he must deny or at least compromise some very essential aspect of his in order to succeed professionally, protect his reputation, or what have you - and this is something Armstrong may or may not be willing to do. Pure, unrestrained self-expression may well be more important to him than "going places" in a worldly sense. This is not to say Louis Armstrong will not progress or succeed, only that he will do it on his own terms.
His decisions are based on the demands of the situation and he is able to take advantage of the right moment. Strongly career oriented, Louis Armstrong may have inner conflicts between his professional personal lives.
His inner life tends to be full of imagination and Louis Armstrong is likely to have far-reaching ideas and plans. Peace-loving and generous, he is very sharing in his relationships. But Louis Armstrong could become the victim of unintentional slights.
