drive and ambition
Once Lou Reed sets his mind on a goal, his dedication, determination, and commitment are extraordinary. Reed pursues his ambitions tenaciously and will stubbornly refuse to give up, let go, or be influenced in any way. Like Aesop's tortoise, Lou labors patiently and steadfastly until he achieves what he wants - or until it is clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that all is lost. He is a reliable, consistent and productive worker, and he often shoulders more of the workload than his co-workers, usually without complaint. He often ends up with the nitty-gritty work. He prefers a regular routine, with definite hours and clearly defined responsibilities and tasks. In fact, establishing a pattern or routine is very important to his success because once he gets started in a certain direction, it is easy for Lou Reed to kept to that path. Getting started is more difficult. Lou Reed has a lazy, comfort-loving side and there is often a good deal of inertia for him to overcome before Reed gets going; but once he gets a momentum going, his energy level is strong and steady.
He is interested in concrete results and solid, practical achievements. Lou Reed needs to have some tangible product or contribution to show for his efforts, and cannot be content with only intangible rewards (such as having a good time, learning, or spiritual enrichment). Material well-being and security is also a large factor in determining what he does. Lou's stamina and persistence are his greatest assets, but they can also work against him; he can get caught in a rut and refuse to seize new opportunities. Lou Reed also tends to play it safe, and to limit himself as a result.
Asserting himself and being direct and forceful about what he wants is very often difficult for Lou. Though he may have a great deal of energy and drive, Lou Reed lacks confidence or simply the desire to put himself and his interests first. Positively, Reed can be very unselfish, working more on behalf of others rather than for himself.
However, Lou Reed denies his own desires and needs too much, and he is likely to secretly become very angry, which will sabotage his finest efforts.
He is very serious about attaining his goals and feels that keeping his nose to the grindstone is the only way to do it. It is by working hard, keeping up his efforts and focusing on a single objective that Lou Reed achieves his aims in life. Lou exercises great self-control, even self-denial, in order to accomplish what he desires. He meets obstacles stoically and struggles patiently through difficult circumstances. Lou Reed feels that he must rely on himself alone and that he must shoulder all of the responsibility. He can be a harsh disciplinarian, expecting far too much of himself and others. Lou often holds himself back, doubting his own power and ability. He may feel that he meets great resistance whenever he tries to assert himself or take initiative, which is very frustrating to Reed. However, Lou Reed has the power to endure and a dogged determination to overcome all obstacles.
Although he is patient and steady when pursuing an objective, when Lou Reed finally loses patience he loses it completely! In addition to having great tenacity and perseverance, Lou has a daring and rebellious side as well:
Dynamic, self-willed, and fiercely independent, he has extraordinary drive and energy. When Lou Reed wants something, he wants it this very minute, and he acts quickly, impulsively and decisively. His impatience inclines Lou Reed to be abrupt with people and reckless. He needs a great deal of personal freedom to do things in his own way and does not happily conform to schedules, rules or regimes imposed by others. He is intolerant of authority and can be very rebellious. He is very frank with others, sometimes brutally so. Lou Reed may have an explosive temper. High-strung and often nervous and tense, Lou finds it difficult to slow down, pace himself or relax. Lou Reed is always on the go. He is restless, daring and experimental.
While Lou Reed is often charged with energy and inspired about what he wants to do (as mentioned earlier), there is a dreamy, visionary, or passive side to him as well. His energy level may fluctuate from being superabundant to rather lax.
Reed dreams up creative solutions to problems and takes an imaginative, unusual approach to getting a job done. When difficulties arise, Lou Reed prefers to avoid conflict and confrontation in favor of more peaceful or subtle methods of resolving problems. Reed finds it satisfying to work in order to help others or for a cause that transcends his own narrow, personal interests. Lou Reed has an artistic flair and appreciates the colorful, unique or strange.
Lou has the ability to verbalize his feelings and perceptions well. His judgment is keen and sharp, he is diplomatic and can express himself in good language. Lou Reed initiates conversations with people and is never at a loss for appropriate remarks.
Reed is intensely competitive, and may engage in furious battles of will, numerous conflicts, and possible public controversy, on his way to gaining his objectives. Lou Reed could be drawn to activities that are dangerous, in the line of fire, so to speak. He puts himself on the line. Anger or recklessness could be his downfall.
Lou Reed perseveres through numerous obstacles, frustrations, delays, and setbacks in order to attain his ambitions in life. Sometimes it may feel as if he is pushing a boulder uphill. Lou Reed should try to avoid bitterness or comparing his lot to others', as these could weaken his resolve.
His drives and ambitions in life may seem crazy or eccentric to the more conservative people Lou knows. There may well be no security or safety net (no retirement pension, no insurance benefits) in the work Lou Reed does. He is suited for freelancing, or professions that involve lots of change, innovation, variety, irregular schedules, and the like. Lou Reed should expect the unexpected and numerous ups and downs in the course of his life. He may change course often, and try many different things.
Lou Reed has a beautiful soul, is aesthetically inclined and has a love of fine arts. He may want to be involved in a career where art, acting, or beauty is paramount. His parents are supportive and Lou is likely to have a harmonious home and business life.
His direction in life seems to depend a great deal on other people and his relationships with others may often influence Reed's decision in planning his objectives. This could be to Lou's advantage at times, but also could cause occasional setbacks.
