Although Joseph Cotten approaches life with curiosity and a willingness to learn and try new things (as stated in the previous chapter), at heart he is much more stable and reliable than he appears. Cotten is, in fact, quite solid though he can leave the impression of being rather changeable. He is also not quite as flexible and adaptable as one might assume initially.
