John C. Hawkes challenges and difficulties
Hawkes both yearns for, and fears, being emotionally vulnerable to others and experiencing deep emotional intimacy. Trusting others and letting them get to know him intimately does not come easily to John, and sexual inhibitions may result from this. John Hawkes is very self-protective and may be compulsively secretive. Learning to relinquish control in personal relationships, and to be completely open, is an important task for Hawkes.
He may have vague but ever-present feelings of guilt and fear that are difficult to pinpoint or eradicate. It is as if John Hawkes does not trust Life itself, and is always seeking ways to defend himself from its dangers and its unknowns. John Hawkes must learn to overcome his ingrained habit of discouragement and anxiety, and to see the world more as a friendly place than as a treacherous one.
John Hawkes has a sense of duty and responsibility, but may find it difficult to make up his mind and come to a decision. Hawkes is somewhat slow to act, and his need to be fully prepared inclines him to let good opportunities slip away at times.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which John Hawkes instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction John Hawkes needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
John Hawkes' path lies in his development as an individual, the discovery of his own strengths and joys, the capacity to express his uniqueness and to stand out in a crowd. This involves becoming a leader, even though Hawkes' instinct is actually to be "one of the Indians" rather than the "chief". When under stress John Hawkes is apt to seek safety in numbers, to go along with the group. Also, he may believe that striving to do his personal best and to excel is wrong or selfish, but John should let go of this notion. Finding his own center and doing what gives him delight and energy is the most worthwhile contribution John Hawkes can offer the world at large.
It is in fostering a personal vision or philosophy of life, whether through religious or philosophical studies, education or the wisdom of distant lands or cultures that John Hawkes is most likely to wrestle with these issues. John Hawkes needs to cultivate the qualities described above in this endeavor. Long distance communication and involvement with foreigners is likely to be significant to Hawkes.
The following are specific activities that will support John Hawkes in his growth. These may or may not feel natural to Hawkes, and he may initially resist or feel awkward about them, but they are crucial to his path to wholeness.
John Hawkes should care for and nourish children, plants, pets or other people. He needs to make a home, create and sustain strong relationships with his family or a community that can support him and give him a sense of safety and belonging.
John Hawkes should develop his listening skills and deepen his understanding and appreciation of women and their perspective. John Hawkes has to learn to trust his own feelings, intuitions and emotional needs. He needs to care for himself in an accepting, non-judgmental way.
It is in John Hawkes' best interest to take all that is good and helpful from his past and use it in a new way. (If he is so inclined, John may want to explore the potential of past-life regression to tap into gifts he has already developed).
John Hawkes loves to show off the strength that he possesses and he has a strong desire to dominate others. John seems to have an exuberant craving for recognition and importance and a need to influence and lead large groups of people.
John Hawkes seems to have an innate sense of cosmic awareness and is likely to have strong psychical or metaphysical talents. He is inclined to join some parapsychology groups where he may share his unusual experiences with others.
John has the power to influence people to his way of thinking and may forcefully try to obtain leadership in his community. Others cannot help noticing him, and John Hawkes will probably be the leader in any club or association he joins.
