Behind Sasportas' rather pragmatic, hardheaded exterior (mentioned in the previous chapter), he is an adventurer and a risk-taker at heart. His cool, conservative manner masks a much more fiery core.

He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Howard Sasportas believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Sasportas' gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.

Howard Sasportas craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Howard likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.

Howard Sasportas loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then he is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes and introduce some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are tantamount to death for him. He is not afraid of trying something that has never been done before, and even though he may sometimes be perceived as a fool, Howard Sasportas also discovers, invents and initiates things that others will later emulate. Ownership gives Howard Sasportas a sense of security, and he has a strong attachment to his possessions. Howard also has a natural instinct or understanding of economics, finance, trade, and appraising the value of merchandise.

He is a positive, vital, energetic and active go-getter. He enjoys competition, and his initiative and self-confidence make Howard Sasportas a winner.

He is an original! Howard Sasportas radiates a sort of electrical excitement about the things he is interested in, and conveys this to others, but he also gets bored rather quickly. Howard does not mind being a bit unusual or breaking a few rules either.

He may lack direction and drive and tends to compare himself unfavorably to others. Sasportas alternates between caution and unrealistic expectations and lets others expect too much of him. But Howard Sasportas plods forward steadily, reaching success later in life.
