Gregg Araki motivation
Gregg Araki's self-centeredness (described in the previous chapter), combined with his expansive, freewheeling style (described below), makes for a highly dynamic, energetic and enthusiastic person. Others feel that Gregg Araki sometimes comes on too strong, and Araki can be overly zealous in trying to convince others of the value of a product, philosophy or other interest in his life. Overall, however, Gregg's liveliness and enthusiasm are wonderful gifts that everyone appreciates.
He is a gambler and an adventurer at heart, one who loves to take risks, to discover and explore new worlds, and to travel the untried path rather than the safe, reliable one. He is independent, freedom loving, and often very restless. He needs a lifestyle that provides opportunities for travel, movement, change, and meeting new people. A steady routine, which offers much in the way of security but little in the way of space and freedom, is odious to him.
To Gregg Araki, life is a journey and an adventure that is endlessly interesting and rich with possibilities, and it may be difficult for him to decide where to focus his attention and efforts. Gregg Araki probably traveled around and experimented with many different paths before he settled on a particular career. Or he may go from one project to the next, for once the challenge and vital interest is gone, he is very quick to move on. Commitment, discipline, focus and concentration are not his strong points. Araki can be irresponsible and disinclined to take on the burdens and limitations of adult life.
An incurable optimist, he has big dreams, aspirations and hopes for the future and is usually engaged in pursuing a far-off goal. Gregg Araki has a great deal of faith and trust in life and failures do not crush his spirit. Araki always bounces back from disappointments, often with another bright dream or scheme. Gregg Araki has a sporting, playful attitude toward life and he is philosophical about his mistakes. Gregg has the ability to sense future trends, to see the big picture, and he likes to theorize and speculate. However, he gets annoyed with all the details and practical requirements required to implement his theories.
Araki expresses himself in a very open, direct and straightforward manner and is often blunt and tactless as well. Because he does not take himself too seriously, he may not realize how deeply his candid statements can wound more sensitive souls. In fact, though he may not realize it, Gregg's insensitivity and lack of understanding regarding others' feelings is probably one of his worst faults.
Gregg Araki enjoys being in close relationships but also needs freedom and he does not do well with a possessive, clinging, or emotionally demanding partner. He is quite generous, and heartily dislikes pettiness in others. Someone who shares his ideals, his sense of fun and his zest for life would be the right companion for Araki.
Gregg Araki has a very dramatic, creative, expressive nature and he loves to perform. Gregg enjoys being the center of attention and he seeks to shine, to excel, and to be outstanding in some unique way. He is very involved in his own creativity and self-expression, and takes great pleasure in developing and using his special talents, whether these are artistic, athletic, or intellectual. Gregg Araki has a strong sense of pride.
There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Gregg Araki, between his conscious attitudes and aspirations, and his deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs, and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Gregg may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with his subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in his body may well be a signal that Gregg Araki is denying or suppressing the messages from his subconscious or emotional self.
Ideally, Gregg Araki will learn to accept the two quite different aspects of his and to express both of them. If he cannot do this, Araki is apt to attract many relationships into his life with people who reflect his denied or repressed qualities, and who seem to make his life difficult. (Read also chapter 4 in order to get a better picture of the duality described here.)
The unusual and unorthodox appeal to Araki, and he does not allow tradition, convention or other people's expectations to dictate how he is going to live his life. Gregg Araki craves freedom, adventure, excitement and discovery, and is not afraid of change. Gregg Araki possesses inventive and creative genius.
Araki alternates between aggression and apathy and sometimes feels that he is unable to meet all the demands made on him. Once Gregg Araki becomes aware of what he needs to do, however, he is capable of working long and hard, not giving up until his work is done.
He may lack direction and drive and tends to compare himself unfavorably to others. Araki alternates between caution and unrealistic expectations and lets others expect too much of him. But Gregg Araki plods forward steadily, reaching success later in life.
