Eric Clapton motivation
Although Eric Clapton appears initially to be the soul of tact and diplomacy (as described on the previous page) he is not as gentle and peace-loving as he seems. Although Eric Clapton prefers harmony, he is willing to fight or to aggressively pursue his own interest if need be. People who come to know Eric more than just superficially realize there's much more to him than his surface charm.
He may be at odds with himself at times because he has both a strong urge for togetherness and a strong independent "free-and-on-my-own" impulse also.
He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle your way through life, depending upon no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence, and courage. Eric Clapton believes in being totally honest, true to oneself and one's own vision and convictions, even if that means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor, and authenticity are Clapton's gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
Eric Clapton craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Eric likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.
Eric Clapton loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then he is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes, and bring in some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are like death to him. He is not afraid of trying something that's never been done before, and even though he may be seen as a fool sometimes, Eric Clapton also discovers, invents, and initiates things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following his own star are the breath of life for Clapton, and he wilts (or get very frustrated and angry) if he cannot do this.
He is spontaneous, impulsive, direct, enthusiastic, and assertive. Eric Clapton believes in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and he thinks of his as a strong person - even invincible. Eric Clapton hates being ill or in any way in a position of dependency. Accepting his own human limitations and emotional needs is often difficult for him.
He is basically aggressive in his attitudes and has less facility in the receptive arts of relating to others, picking up subtle messages and nuances, listening, nurturing, and harmonizing. Often he is so fired up about his own projects or goals that he inadvertently runs over or ignores other people's feelings and interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others' contributions, ideas, and feelings would go a long way in improving Clapton's relationships. His impatience to get on with things causes Eric Clapton to be rather insensitive, and to therefore alienate others unnecessarily. He also frequently tries to accomplish his ends by using anger or some version of a temper tantrum. Eric Clapton would gain much by learning to slow down, relax, and just let things be sometimes, but his energetic, restless nature rarely allows Eric Clapton to do this.
His energies are directed to either perfecting his techniques, skills, and abilities in work, or in "perfecting", refining, and improving himself as a person. Critical analysis and attention to minute detail are intrinsic in either process. The urge to bring about a state of wholeness or optimal functioning is a strong motivation of Eric Clapton's, and he is quite a perfectionist!
Clapton can easily become overly identified or involved with the function he performs, with his work, or with his own health and "growth process".
He is an original! Eric Clapton radiates a sort of electrical excitement about the things he is interested in, and conveys this to others, but he also gets bored rather quickly. Eric does not mind being a bit unusual or breaking a few rules either.
Eric Clapton is extremely sensitive, compassionate, and giving, often to his own personal disadvantage. His ideals and spiritual values motivate Eric Clapton, and he cannot live only for personal gain or materialistic concerns. There must be an element of beauty, magic, imagination, inspiration or creativity in what he does. Otherwise Eric Clapton becomes listless and aimless. The arts, theater, music, and/or charitable works suit Eric well.
Eric Clapton has a deep belief in his own power and his ability to survive any change and to emerge victoriously from any difficulty. Eric has tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, he pursues his desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and he may be somewhat compulsive, even fanatical at times. Eric likes to live intensely and has no respect for people who are weak, who avoid confronting life and their own destiny.
