David Vanian challenges and difficulties
David Vanian has a critical, cynical attitude towards many religions and philosophies. Without realizing it, he prevents himself from appreciating new viewpoints and attitudes. Vanian is more rigid and dogmatic than he realizes. His approach may also be too intellectual or moralistic. David Vanian takes his own political beliefs and spiritual philosophy very seriously, worrying and fretting if he is not 100% clear about some ideology or theory.
Vanian is generally not a "joiner" and he does not feel comfortable in clubs, organizations or other groups of people that are centered on some common ideal or interest. If David Vanian does participate in a group, he may find the rules and procedures restrictive - or he may simply feel that he does not fit in with the others.
Being alone or with older, more experienced people suits David Vanian better than being with groups of his own peers.
Once he decides what he wants to do, David Vanian will pursue his goal tenaciously and, if necessary, sacrifice a great deal for his deeply felt convictions. This trait tends to make David feel a little out of step with others. David Vanian takes things a little more seriously and has an inclination to be somewhat of a fanatic, although probably not flamboyantly so; as a result, others may not be aware of how deeply David feels and how driven he is about the things that are important to him. David Vanian has a deep inner resolve and is willing to struggle to do the things that are really meaningful to him, rather than follow an easier but less meaningful course in life.
He may feel inhibited in his relationships with others and give the impression of being unapproachable and wanting to keep his distance. David Vanian thinks about his feelings for a long time before he expresses them to anyone and he tends to hide his inner self.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which David Vanian instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction David Vanian needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
He is capable of withstanding outside influences and remaining constant and steady on his path, but when under stress David Vanian becomes downright obstinate and implacable, resisting any change no matter how necessary or desirable the change may be. Tenaciously trying to preserve the status quo and hold on to what he has, he is apt to ignore the subtle signals he receives about needing to do something differently, which often leads to a crisis.
David Vanian needs to learn the limits of his ability to control life, and to accept and even embrace change and loss of the familiar, in order to allow for new life and growth. "Letting go" is a major life lesson for him. Vanian also needs to develop a balanced attitude toward his appetites and desires, as David Vanian tends to overindulge and/or deny himself excessively.
It is in any involvements he has with teams, clubs, organizations, networks, and the like that David Vanian is most likely to wrestle with these issues. The qualities described above need to be channeled into some sort of group effort or experience, or have some impact on society at large.
The following are specific activities that will support David Vanian in his growth. These may or may not feel natural to Vanian, and he may initially resist or feel awkward about them, but they are crucial to his path to wholeness.
David Vanian should foster self-discipline and learn to handle responsibility. He may shoulder an inordinate amount of responsibility as well as burdens that sometimes limit Vanian's activities and opportunities in life. However, this is a maturing and ultimately empowering process. He is also likely to be offered positions of tremendous responsibility, whether David really wants such jobs or not, usually because he has invested real effort and made some sort of substantial contribution.
There may be considerable obstacles in his path - more adversity than others seem to face - and Vanian's task is to learn to cope with pressure and persevere.
Vanian always looks to establish relationships with groups or associations and has the ability to blend in unobtrusively. David Vanian has a way of integrating the needs and feelings of others, while taking into consideration the proceedings of the association.
