D.G. Rossetti motivation
The way D.G. Rossetti appears or comes across to others is very congruent with his true nature; what he sees is what you get. The description below corroborates what you read about Dante in the previous chapter. If at all possible, Rossetti should avoid living in large cities, as he needs natural surroundings.
He is a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance and constancy. The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of his greatest assets. Once Rossetti's course is set, he pursues it tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway him from his purpose.
D.G. Rossetti has a very practical nature; he wants to see concrete, tangible results for his efforts, and he is not one to concoct wild dreams that are unlikely to come into fruition. Most of his "wild dreams" have to do with material achievements, well-being and security, for he has a great love of the physical world and he wants to experience and enjoy it to the full. Though D.G. Rossetti will work long and persistently, he also has a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and he wants to enjoy what he has worked for. In fact, Rossetti can be enormously lazy at times and has a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly pleasures. D.G. Rossetti also loves the beauty of the natural world and he probably prefers a serene country setting to an urban life style.
Basically, his needs are simple and he is easy to please. D.G. Rossetti has a strong desire for security, stability and peace, and will rarely make changes unless he is forced to do so. He is not very demanding emotionally, though he does crave a great deal of physical closeness and affection. Because of his faithfulness, emotional steadfastness and gentle strength, others often depend upon Rossetti for support. Though he hates upheaval and sudden changes, D.G. Rossetti usually maintains his poise and equanimity. D.G. Rossetti also has an innate sense of harmony with nature, allowing things to grow and unfold in their own time and the patience to nurture something into being - be it a garden, a child, or a creative project. He makes an excellent parent, especially if he follows his instincts more often than "the experts".
Dante has three major faults: one is his bullheaded obstinacy. The second is his unwillingness to deviate from his safe, predictable routine. And the third is Rossetti's tendency to always insist upon realism and undervalue the imaginative, speculative, and fanciful - in other words, D.G. Rossetti lacks the ability to play with ideas and possibilities, and to open his mind to new horizons.
D.G. Rossetti tends to get involved in the helping professions or in activities where his efforts are hidden, behind the scenes, unacknowledged, or unknown to the public. Asserting himself or getting up in front of an audience may be exceedingly uncomfortable for Rossetti.
He is imaginative and sensitive to anything colorful, beautiful or magical. He is attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, music and mysticism. His spiritual values color Dante's whole perspective and approach to life. He is idealistic and perhaps impractical.
Rossetti has an intrinsic creative and artistic ability and an unusual sense of form. D.G. Rossetti also has a deep need for relationships that offer affection and can be quite intense when by inner compulsion he feels drawn to someone. His relationships tend to be peculiar in some way.
