Chad Allen challenges and difficulties
Allen fears of becoming emotionally dependent upon others, and may distance himself or deny his needs for relationships of closeness and intimacy so that he will not be vulnerable to rejection or abandonment. On the other hand, Chad Allen may cling excessively or need constant reassurance from loved ones and family. Developing a deep, inner sense of security, as well as the ability to give and receive nurturing are important tasks for Chad.
Fear of the unknown, of change, and/or of death may plague Chad. He strongly resists changes and transitions rather than greeting them with curiosity or a spirit of adventure, which makes them much harder for him.
On another level entirely, Chad Allen is very careful about joining forces, and especially his material resources, with others. Allen wants to keep his own and other people's property and assets very distinct.
Once he decides what he wants to do, Chad Allen will pursue his goal tenaciously and, if necessary, sacrifice a great deal for his deeply felt convictions. This trait tends to make Chad feel a little out of step with others. Chad Allen takes things a little more seriously and has an inclination to be somewhat of a fanatic, although probably not flamboyantly so; as a result, others may not be aware of how deeply Chad feels and how driven he is about the things that are important to him. Chad Allen has a deep inner resolve and is willing to struggle to do the things that are really meaningful to him, rather than follow an easier but less meaningful course in life.
At times Chad Allen struggles with nebulous worries and insecurities, fears which may be difficult to name. Mostly, he may be afraid of getting acquainted with the inner workings of his mind and soul, feeling uneasy with anything irrational or intangible. Chad Allen has to work hard to overcome being overly serious regarding the spiritual side of life, especially if his religious upbringing emphasized guilt and retribution. Reorienting himself in the direction of spiritual optimism will do much to lift the cloud of worry that settles over Chad occasionally.
His vitality tends to be a bit low and Chad may have to fight against the tendency to be inactive. Easily discouraged, Chad Allen is inclined toward pessimism. Perhaps his upbringing was too authoritative, causing problems in his relationships with his parents.
Chad Allen has a desire to break away from tradition and to free himself from restricting conditions. Somewhat inflexible and rigid, he may suddenly become inhibited before he initiates his objectives, which could work out to Allen's disadvantage.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which Chad Allen instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction Chad Allen needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
It is easy for Chad Allen to become distracted from his path by the multitude of interesting choices, possibilities, and options available to him. Chad Allen needs to develop single mindedness and focus. Until Chad directs his attention to some of the big questions, such as "What is my life's purpose?" "What is really important to me and essential to my happiness?", he is apt to dabble, scatter his energies in many directions and engage in activities which are entertaining but ultimately neither fruitful nor enriching.
Having an overall vision for his life and aligning his daily activities so that they support rather than detract from Allen's larger purpose in life, is a significant step toward his personal development.
It is in his relationships with others that he is most likely to wrestle with these issues. There is a dynamic balance (or conflict) within Chad Allen between acting spontaneously and being true to himself versus modifying himself or his behavior to suit others. Chad Allen seesaws between being inordinately concerned with his self to being overly conciliatory and concerned with others' needs, rights, or opinions about him. Learning to act authentically and forthrightly regardless of possible consequences is Allen's task.
The specific habits which are likely to hold Chad Allen back, or which he is prone to overdo, especially during stressful periods, include:
Being excessively egocentric or proud, needing personal recognition and applause, wanting to be center stage all the time, needing to be important and special.
