Although Brian McFadden appears gentle and sympathetic toward others (as explained in the previous chapter), he is also a "warrior". McFadden sometimes feels torn between these two facets of his character: the sensitive, tenderhearted, home-loving side, and the assertive, competitive, risk-taking side. People who first meet Brian McFadden often think that he is a "softy", but later find out that he is strong willed and pursues his goals aggressively.

He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Brian McFadden confronts abusive power, tyranny and dominating people who will teach him about power and eventually force McFadden to claim his own.

McFadden tends to be in a constant state of tension and seems to look for avenues to test his strength. Brian McFadden uses all the energy at his disposal in order to succeed. Somewhat rebellious and inflexible, Brian fights any opposition or resistance he meets.
