Ada Lovelace general characteristics
Ada Lovelace's fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized by the four astrological elements. Each person has their own unique balance of these four basic energies: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth (practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and intellectual qualities), and water (emotional needs and feelings).
Countess Ada of Lovelace's "elemental make-up" is described below. Remember that most people are "unbalanced" or lopsided, and if Ada Byron is lacking or deficient in a certain element (or elements), it simply means that she needs to consciously develop that particular aspect in order to appreciate and/or work harder in that dimension of life.
Sometimes we overestimate the element that we are least endowed with, sensing it as a lack within ourselves, but more often we neglect or ignore it. The qualities described below will be reiterated and explained in more detail in the following pages.
She is a fiery individual, filled with tremendous passion and zest for life. Ada Byron thrives in situations where there is energy, excitement, action, movement, dynamism and drama. Along with her exuberant vitality and enthusiasm, Ada Lovelace has an acute ability to visualize future possibilities, and an almost childlike faith in "what could be". Unless she has a vision, an aspiration, or a wonderful dream to believe in, Countess Ada of Lovelace is not completely happy. Ada Lovelace has a great sense of the majesty, grandeur and adventure of life, but tends to overlook the magic in small things and everyday life.
Ada Lovelace also has a strong urge to express herself spontaneously and creatively, without conforming to others' ways or conventions. Personal freedom and independence are very important to Ada Byron and she resists being "owned" or dictated to. Countess Ada of Lovelace is secretly apt to feel that she is special or charmed - somehow above or beyond the realm of "ordinary" people and mundane life.
Ada Lovelace has a dominant ego and can be excessively proud, dominating, or concerned with herself. Ada Lovelace has a positive, vigorous, active approach to life, and bringing her intentions and desires to the fore feels more natural to her than going with the flow or merely allowing life to unfold. Ada Lovelace is essentially very "yang" (assertive, competitive, outgoing, direct), and the "yin" qualities of passive acceptance, receptivity, gentleness, and subtlety do not come easily to her. Ada Byron inspires others with her generous spirit, idealism, spark, confidence and joie de vivre, but she can also irritate them with her self-centeredness and insistence on expressing herself freely regardless of others' needs or opinions. Moreover, Ada Lovelace has trouble being content in the present and would benefit by learning how to consciously pacify her restlessness and achieve the capacity for tranquility and peacefulness.
One of her primary challenges lies in developing a sense of security and stability and adopting a steady rhythm in life. Cultivating self-discipline, patience and endurance and learning to accept realistic limitations will enable Ada Lovelace to be more productive and to implement some of her ideas and creative impulses. Ada Lovelace is not always interested in the practicalities and compromises required to make her dreams a reality.
At times, Ada Lovelace feels out of place in the world, restless, discontent, unable to find her niche and dissatisfied with mundane reality. This may have the positive effect of sparking Countess Ada of Lovelace's exploration of the creative, imaginative or spiritual side of life. However, Ada Byron tends to resist growing up and learning how to effectively deal with adult responsibility. She also tends to be either bound up with the past or projecting into the future, thereby ignoring the present. To become more grounded in the here and now, Ada Lovelace may find it helpful to get massages on a regular basis, make a practice of gentle, rhythmic exercise like walking or yoga, and eat substantial, heavy foods.
Ada Lovelace tends to lack the ability to analyze herself or her life in a detached, objective way. Ada Byron feels and experiences but does not necessarily understand or reflect upon her experience, and thus finds it hard to talk about it. Really taking in what someone else has to say can be hard for Ada Lovelace - she does not readily adapt to new ideas or people, and as a result may become inflexible or limit her experience of life. Broadening her education and gaining exposure to different cultures is very beneficial to Ada Byron. Otherwise she is apt to be rigid and even prejudiced against those outside her own circle. (This may be manifested in arthritic conditions, poor flexibility, or poor circulation).
She also tends to distrust people who communicate freely or to feel inferior to those who are more articulate and intellectual than she is. Ada Lovelace learns much more readily by watching, doing or apprenticing than by reading or being told about something.
