Virginia Weidler motivation
Behind Weidler's open, enthusiastic, friendly demeanor (described in the previous chapter), she has a rather gentle, receding nature. She is much more sensitive and vulnerable than her outgoing demeanor would suggest.
Moreover, because her outgoing, enthusiastic approach to life is fueled by high idealism and a vivid imagination, Virginia Weidler easily becomes enamored of a romantic or idealistic goal or vision without investing sufficient energy into analyzing, planning or working in order to realize her dreams. Too often Weidler waits for the blessings of fortune to provide her with the resources needed rather than applying herself to the work that needs to be done. When properly channeled, Virginia's enthusiasm and vision can be an inspiration to others and an endless source of creative ideas that propel Virginia Weidler toward very interesting, creative endeavors.
At heart she is very gentle, impressionable and receptive - a dreamer. The world of her imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to Virginia Weidler as anything in the outer world, though she may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting her inner experiences in a way others can understand. Mystical, artistic, musical, emotional and imaginative, she has a rich inner life, though Weidler may seem rather unobtrusive and quiet outwardly. Virginia Weidler usually keeps to herself.
Virginia shows great sensitivity and empathy toward others and often senses things psychically or intuitively which prove to be correct. She is tolerant, forgiving and nonjudgmental, accepting people unconditionally regardless of their flaws, mistakes, or outward appearance. Virginia has deep compassion for the suffering of any fellow creature and she often feels the pain of others as if it were her own. Virginia Weidler sympathizes with the needy, the disadvantaged and the misfits of society. She is capable of giving selflessly, living a life of devoted and compassionate service to others, as a healer, physician, social worker or minister. However, Weidler tends to give indiscriminately, to let others take advantage of her kindness, and to encourage the weak to remain so by becoming dependent upon her. Virginia has little sense of boundaries, or of knowing when to say "no". Moderation and self-discipline are not her strong points.
She is a lover and a peacemaker rather than a fighter, and she tries to avoid open conflict. Weidler will patiently ignore or "tune out" problems and hope they will go away by themselves, rather than confront them directly and Weidler tends to lack the positive, fighting spirit that is sometimes necessary to overcome challenges. She is fluid, open, nonresistant and somewhat passive. Virginia Weidler does things in a subtle, often covert, manner.
Her gifts may also lie in the realm of the creative, artistic, or musical, for she possesses great sensitivity, inspiration and limitless imagination. Virginia Weidler has a strong affinity for beauty and love.
Her faults include a tendency to be lazy and negligent, and to wallow in self-pity rather than take strong, definite action to change her life for the better. She also tends to become so detached from her immediate environment that she lives in a disorderly, chaotic sort of hodgepodge, though this probably bothers those around Weidler more than it bothers her.
The urge to learn and communicate is essential to Virginia Weidler, and she expresses herself very well through writing, teaching or sharing ideas and information. Weidler is persuasive and fluent with language.
Restless and inquisitive, Virginia enjoys being mobile and taking short trips and excursions in order to see for herself what is going on in the world around her.
There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Virginia Weidler between her conscious attitudes and aspirations and her deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Virginia may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with her subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in her body may well be a signal that Virginia Weidler is denying or suppressing the messages from her subconscious or emotional self.
Ideally, Virginia Weidler will learn to accept and express these two different sides of herself. Should she fail to do so, Weidler is likely to be drawn into many relationships with people who reflect her denied or repressed qualities and seem to make her life difficult. (Also read chapter 4 in order to get a better picture of the duality described here.)
Innovative, original, unorthodox and unconventional, she identifies with the role of a rebel, reformer or iconoclast. Virginia Weidler insists upon a great deal of personal freedom and does not easily adapt to others' needs and wishes. Virginia needs a lifestyle that allows her to be spontaneous. She often feels that she is somehow different from other people and outside of society's mainstream.
