Terry has two very different sides to her. Sometimes she is the playful, curious child described in the previous chapter while at others she is the serious, detached adult. Few people can vacillate between these two extremes to the extent that Terry does. In fact her detachment and objectivity is evident even when she is joking. If she loses touch with her lighter, playful side (possibly in later life), Terry Moore will become increasingly bitter and cynical. Her deeply conservative nature (discussed below) holds her restlessness in check, and she is actually less willing to bend than one would imagine based on her initial appearance.
