Though Tenzing Norgay seems rather cautious and conservative (as discussed in the previous chapter), he has a much more playful, humorous side as well. Moreover, the combination of his attention to detail and cautious, circumspect approach to life, coupled with his youthful curiosity and quick mind makes Tenzing mentally sharp, articulate and clever.

Tenzing Norgay is, in many ways, an eternal child. His mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and his attention span is often quite brief. Norgay grasps ideas quickly and once his initial curiosity has been satisfied, he is ready to move on. Tenzing Norgay craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.

With his charm and outgoing personality Tenzing Norgay has no trouble attracting people and he enjoys pleasant and congenial relationships with them. He may choose social contact with generous or wealthy people and would prefer to live in a beautiful home.
