Behind Kennedy's rather prudent, shrewd and guarded manner (described in the previous chapter), he is really kind, altruistic and idealistic. He is also much more vulnerable than he appears. He is very prudent and sharp in handling some of his affairs, but occasionally Kennedy's deep-rooted idealism can cloud his vision. Moreover, he may wage an internal battle, swinging between traditional, conservative pragmatism and lofty idealism.
At heart he is very gentle, impressionable and receptive - a dreamer. The world of his imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to Ted Kennedy as anything in the outer world, though he may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting his inner experiences in a way others can understand. Mystical, artistic, musical, emotional and imaginative, he has a rich inner life, though Kennedy may seem rather unobtrusive and quiet outwardly. Ted Kennedy usually keeps to himself.
Ted shows great sensitivity and empathy toward others and often senses things psychically or intuitively which prove to be correct. He is tolerant, forgiving and nonjudgmental, accepting people unconditionally regardless of their flaws, mistakes, or outward appearance. Ted has deep compassion for the suffering of any fellow creature and he often feels the pain of others as if it were his own. Ted Kennedy sympathizes with the needy, the disadvantaged and the misfits of society. He is capable of giving selflessly, living a life of devoted and compassionate service to others, as a healer, physician, social worker or minister. However, Kennedy tends to give indiscriminately, to let others take advantage of his kindness, and to encourage the weak to remain so by becoming dependent upon him. Ted has little sense of boundaries, or of knowing when to say "no". Moderation and self-discipline are not his strong points.
He is a lover and a peacemaker rather than a fighter, and he tries to avoid open conflict. Kennedy will patiently ignore or "tune out" problems and hope they will go away by themselves, rather than confront them directly and Kennedy tends to lack the positive, fighting spirit that is sometimes necessary to overcome challenges. He is fluid, open, nonresistant and somewhat passive. Ted Kennedy does things in a subtle, often covert, manner.
His gifts may also lie in the realm of the creative, artistic, or musical, for he possesses great sensitivity, inspiration and limitless imagination. Ted Kennedy has a strong affinity for beauty and love.
His faults include a tendency to be lazy and negligent, and to wallow in self-pity rather than take strong, definite action to change his life for the better. He also tends to become so detached from his immediate environment that he lives in a disorderly, chaotic sort of hodgepodge, though this probably bothers those around Kennedy more than it bothers him.
Ownership gives Ted Kennedy a sense of security, and he has a strong attachment to his possessions. Ted also has a natural instinct for or understanding of economics, finance, trade, and appraising the value of merchandise.
Ted Kennedy tends to see things from his perspective only and to be rather subjective. He also enjoys talking and expressing his views but does not always listen as well. Ted Kennedy has a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and he needs constant mental stimulation and activity.

Along with his energy and drive, Ted Kennedy has high ideals and an active fantasy life. There is a dreamer and an idealist in Kennedy, as well as a doer and a fighter. Ted wants to win but not at the expense of others, and this may be somewhat of a dilemma for him.
Ted Kennedy is extremely sensitive, compassionate and giving, often to his own detriment. His ideals and spiritual values motivate Ted Kennedy, and he cannot live for personal gain or materialistic concerns alone. There must be an element of beauty, magic, imagination, inspiration or creativity in what he does. Otherwise Ted Kennedy becomes listless and aimless. The arts, theater, music and/or charitable work are ideally suited to Ted.
