When reading the previous chapter and this one, Steven Spielberg will notice that there are some significant differences between how he comes across to others and how he is at heart. His warm, supportive, nurturing side, described in the previous chapter, can conflict with his freedom-loving side, which is described below. In short, he may feel torn between taking care of others and "flying free". Steven Spielberg must maintain a balance so that he has enough time and freedom to explore, travel and play. His energies are directed to either perfecting his techniques, skills, and abilities in work, or in "perfecting", refining, and improving himself as a person. Critical analysis and attention to minute detail are intrinsic in either process. The urge to bring about a state of wholeness or optimal functioning is a strong motivation of Steven Spielberg's, and he is quite a perfectionist!
