Although Bush may seem quite poised, even-tempered, balanced and harmonious (as mentioned in the previous chapter), she is actually rather moody and emotional. Inside, she is much more subjective and biased in her attitudes than her fair-minded, reasonable demeanor may imply.

Sophia has powerful emotional attachments to the past, her family, her childhood, places she associates with safety and security, and her beginnings. It is very important to Bush to maintain a connection with her roots and heritage and keep family bonds strong. Loyal, devoted, and sentimental, Bush tends to cling to whatever is dear to her - be it a person, a familiar place, or a cherished possession.

She is sympathetic, nurturing, supportive and very sensitive to the emotional needs of other people. Sophia likes to be needed and to care for others, and she often worries about the people she loves. Sophia Bush has a very strong need for a sense of belonging and acceptance, and much of her life centers on her home. She is more concerned about people and their feelings than with power, achievement, or position in society. Kindness, consideration and tenderness are more meaningful to Sophia Bush than any sort of honor the world can bestow.

She is primarily emotional and her views are often dominated by her feelings and her own personal, subjective experiences, rather than reason, logic or abstract principles. It is difficult for her to judge situations fairly and objectively because her personal sympathies and loyalties usually factor in. Sophia Bush takes things very personally and sometimes builds a wall around herself to shield herself from pain and rejection. Sophia Bush feels rather shy and vulnerable at heart. She also tends to be moody and experiences frequent mood swings. Her career, reputation and public image are very important to Bush. Sophia Bush has a strong desire to be influential or make her mark on the world. She is not satisfied with the personal sphere alone; her ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for her unique effort and gifts. Sophia Bush may undervalue the personal or inner facet of life.

There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Sophia Bush between her conscious attitudes and aspirations and her deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Sophia may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with her subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in her body may well be a signal that Sophia Bush is denying or suppressing the messages from her subconscious or emotional self.

Ideally, Sophia Bush will learn to accept and express these two different sides of herself. Should she fail to do so, Bush is likely to be drawn into many relationships with people who reflect her denied or repressed qualities and seem to make her life difficult. She is direct, energetic, sometimes aggressive and combative. Sophia Bush often feels that she needs to fight to get what she wants, and she tends to have a "me-first" attitude that angers or irritates others. She is hasty, restless, impatient and sometimes reckless.

While Sophia Bush does have a strong drive, she frequently holds herself back. One of her challenges lies in learning to endure frustration and to patiently overcome the obstacles in her life (or her own internal caution and resistance!).

She is often plagued by feelings of personal inadequacy, inhibitions and self-doubt. Sophia Bush has a cautious, realistic attitude toward life and is highly responsible and disciplined with regard to her obligations and duties. Sophia Bush tends to work and struggle more than necessary and to take herself too seriously.
