drive and ambition
Robin Williams avoids direct confrontation as much as possible and is uncomfortable with aggressiveness, competition and personal power. His ego drive is not very dominant and Williams is not especially ambitious or eager to push his way to the top. He may feel inadequate in situations that call for strong, forceful action. The only instance in which Robin Williams will really fight is when he senses that his loved ones - or something dear to him- are being jeopardized, in which case he is a fierce defender. Robin Williams has a very strong protective side. He acts on impulse and instinct and may lash out at anyone he perceives as threatening to Robin's home or family. However, Robin Williams will rarely initiate a confrontation. His goals also tend to be very personal and centered on family closeness and inner satisfaction rather than worldly achievement.
He is sensitive to stress and does not handle a high-pressured, competitive atmosphere very well. Robin Williams is very touchy, irritable and difficult to live with when there are many demands or stressful situations at work. His energy level varies and is very dependent on the emotional harmony (or lack thereof) in his home. A supportive partner is very instrumental in helping Williams to achieve his goals and desires.
He has passionate convictions and will fight for them when challenged. Robin Williams is willing to dedicate a great deal of his energy and force to an important cause, and he will act decisively on his beliefs, rather than simply espousing them.
Sometimes Williams gets so involved and identified with his ideas that he cannot really be receptive to anyone who opposes him philosophically.
He is enterprising, ambitious and has a strong desire to succeed in a big way. Forever on the lookout for new opportunities and promising new ventures, Robin Williams is willing to take risks if he senses a winner. No matter how much Robin accomplishes, he never seems to be completely satisfied. Robin Williams always feels that he can do more, and sets his sights on another goal. Robin Williams feels frustrated in limited circumstances, and he will abandon secure and reasonably successful situations if they do not offer challenges and future growth potential. Williams likes to keep stretching his limits, to see how far he can go. Sometimes Williams overextends himself or promises more than he can actually achieve, due to an overly optimistic or confident assessment of his own capacities. Robin Williams relishes healthy competition and feels that it spurs him on to even greater achievements.
Dynamic, self-willed, and fiercely independent, he has extraordinary drive and energy. When Robin Williams wants something, he wants it this very minute, and he acts quickly, impulsively and decisively. His impatience inclines Robin Williams to be abrupt with people and reckless. He needs a great deal of personal freedom to do things in his own way and does not happily conform to schedules, rules or regimes imposed by others. He is intolerant of authority and can be very rebellious. He is very frank with others, sometimes brutally so. Robin Williams may have an explosive temper. High-strung and often nervous and tense, Robin finds it difficult to slow down, pace himself or relax. Robin Williams is always on the go. He is restless, daring and experimental.
His competitive drive and lofty ambitions (commented upon earlier) feed on either intense spiritual idealism or a rather inflated, grandiose idea of what Robin Williams can actually accomplish. His energy level is apt to fluctuate from being very high, as noted earlier, to rather low, as mentioned in the following paragraphs.
While Robin Williams is often charged with energy and inspired about what he wants to do (as mentioned earlier), there is a dreamy, visionary, or passive side to him as well. His energy level may fluctuate from being superabundant to rather lax.
Ordinary life often seems drab and uninteresting to Robin and he must have something that stirs his imagination - a vision or ideal or dream to motivate him. Robin Williams has a strong urge to act out his fantasies or to live his dream, and Robin Williams will act where others merely talk or dream. Artistic creation, drama or other areas in which Williams can express himself imaginatively are excellent for him.
Work that only serves his own narrow personal interests does not satisfy Robin Williams. He may lack the competitive edge, the fighting spirit, the "me first" attitude that is often required for material advancement and success. He also tends to either overestimate or underestimate his own power and abilities.
Often Robin Williams feels like he is being pulled in two directions - what he needs to do to fulfill his long-range ambitions, and what he actually feels like doing. This may make it difficult for Robin to be constant and consistent in pursuing goals, career aims, etc.
Relationships with women, trying to satisfy family needs, or other emotional attachments sometimes also conflict. Often Robin Williams has to decide on one or another at a given time, rather than try to have both.
He is very conscious of his purpose or objective in life and he is ambitious with a strong desire to succeed. His leadership ability is apparent to everyone and Robin Williams does not take a back seat to anyone.
