Although Robert Altman has very strong feelings and often reacts to situations passionately (as described on the previous page), he is basically very tender and softhearted. There are at least two sides to Altman: a rather jealous and guarded side, and a much more lenient, generous and forgiving side (discussed below).

At heart he is very gentle, impressionable and receptive - a dreamer. The world of his imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to Robert Altman as anything in the outer world, though he may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting his inner experiences in a way others can understand. His faults include a tendency to be lazy and negligent, and to wallow in self-pity rather than take strong, definite action to change his life for the better.
