Although Nader may initially seem rational and emotionally detached (as mentioned in the previous chapter), people who know Ralph well see a very sympathetic, feeling person, as described below. The depth of his sensitivity is masked somewhat by his independent or impersonal demeanor.

At heart he is very gentle, impressionable and receptive - a dreamer. The world of his imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to Ralph Nader as anything in the outer world, though he may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting his inner experiences in a way others can understand. Mystical, artistic, musical, emotional and imaginative, he has a rich inner life, though Nader may seem rather unobtrusive and quiet outwardly. Ralph Nader usually keeps to himself.

Ralph shows great sensitivity and empathy toward others and often senses things psychically or intuitively which prove to be correct. He is tolerant, forgiving and nonjudgmental, accepting people unconditionally regardless of their flaws, mistakes, or outward appearance. Ralph has deep compassion for the suffering of any fellow creature and he often feels the pain of others as if it were his own. Ralph Nader sympathizes with the needy, the disadvantaged and the misfits of society. He is capable of giving selflessly, living a life of devoted and compassionate service to others, as a healer, physician, social worker or minister. However, Nader tends to give indiscriminately, to let others take advantage of his kindness, and to encourage the weak to remain so by becoming dependent upon him. Ralph has little sense of boundaries, or of knowing when to say "no". Moderation and self-discipline are not his strong points.

He is a lover and a peacemaker rather than a fighter, and he tries to avoid open conflict. Nader will patiently ignore or "tune out" problems and hope they will go away by themselves, rather than confront them directly and Nader tends to lack the positive, fighting spirit that is sometimes necessary to overcome challenges. He is fluid, open, nonresistant and somewhat passive. Ralph Nader does things in a subtle, often covert, manner.

His gifts may also lie in the realm of the creative, artistic, or musical, for he possesses great sensitivity, inspiration and limitless imagination. Ralph Nader has a strong affinity for beauty and love.

His faults include a tendency to be lazy and negligent, and to wallow in self-pity rather than take strong, definite action to change his life for the better. He also tends to become so detached from his immediate environment that he lives in a disorderly, chaotic sort of hodgepodge, though this probably bothers those around Nader more than it bothers him.

Ralph Nader has a clear sense of his own self and he therefore conveys a strong impression to others of who he is and what he wants. Assertive and self-motivated, Nader can be a leader - one whom others look to for direction - but he competes and often clash with other strong individuals. Ralph Nader feels a need to be in control of his own life and he can be too self-involved, too immersed in his own interests, and oblivious to others at times.

Ralph Nader is extremely sensitive, compassionate and giving, often to his own detriment. His ideals and spiritual values motivate Ralph Nader, and he cannot live for personal gain or materialistic concerns alone. There must be an element of beauty, magic, imagination, inspiration or creativity in what he does. Otherwise Ralph Nader becomes listless and aimless. The arts, theater, music and/or charitable work are ideally suited to Ralph.

Nader is capable of extraordinary physical or mental efforts to gain success and achieve something that will bring him recognition and respect. Ralph Nader has a strong need for authority and power over others and is likely to perform better in a leading position.
