Although it may seem that he is just patiently plodding along, Quinn Allman is actually quite shrewd and has a clear purpose in mind. He is far more astute and ambitious than his rather gentle, forbearing manner (described in the previous chapter) would suggest.

He is well aware of his limitations and has a strong desire to go his own way in life. There is a note of gravity to Quinn's personality and he appears somewhat somber. It is not easy for Quinn Allman to relax and enjoy and he prefers to work in seclusion.
