Mel Gibson motivation
Though Mel Gibson seems quite soft and sympathetic (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he has deep down a very hard headed and practical nature, and Gibson can be surprisingly cool and impassive. He is caring, but at the same time rather detached and unemotional. Mel Gibson has a knack for understanding others because he can empathize with them without getting "sucked into" their problems and concerns. For this reason, he is a good parent. Mel can also be very shrewd in business because he can sense what others want and he is clever in finding ways to market products or services that people want.
Serious, disciplined, and quietly ambitious, he is driven to prove himself and to achieve material accomplishments and success. His work, his position in the world, and his contributions to society are very important to Gibson. Mel Gibson will persevere through enormous hardship and frustration in order to reach a goal he has set for himself, and he often sacrifices much in the area of personal relationships and home life in order to do so.
Mel Gibson has a thoughtful, quiet, and self-contained disposition and does not readily show his inner feelings and needs. Mel Gibson seems to be always in control, capable, efficient, and strong. He is often the person in the family or group who is given more responsibility (and more work) than the others. He is highly conscientious and even as a child he possessed great maturity, soberness, and worldly wisdom.
He is basically a pragmatic realist, and though he may have all sorts of dreams, ideals and colorful theories, he feels that the ultimate test of a concept is its practical usefulness. Mel has an innate shrewdness and business sense, and there is a bit of the cynic in him as well.
He is clear-headed, detached and objective, and is not swayed by emotional dramatics. Often he is authoritarian - strictly fair, but without mercy. Mel Gibson has a great respect for tradition and even if he does not agree with certain laws, he will abide by them or work to change them, but never flagrantly disregard them. Careful and conservative, Mel Gibson plays by the rules.
He is subtle, understated, quiet, deep, not easy to know intimately, and never superficial. He is a modest person and sometimes overly self-critical. Giving himself (and others) permission to feel, to play, to be spontaneous and silly, and to be weak and vulnerable sometimes, is not easy for Gibson.
Gibson's strong points are his depth and thoroughness, patience, tenacity, and faithfulness. His faults are a tendency to be rigid and inflexible, and too serious.
His energies are directed to either perfecting his techniques, skills, and abilities in work, or in "perfecting", refining, and improving himself as a person. Critical analysis and attention to minute detail are intrinsic in either process. The urge to bring about a state of wholeness or optimal functioning is a strong motivation of Mel Gibson's, and he is quite a perfectionist!
Gibson can easily become overly identified or involved with the function he performs, with his work, or with his own health and "growth process".
It could be hard for Mel Gibson to face up to his mistakes because of his insecurity and self-doubt. His early years may have been undermined by poor relationships with one or both of his parents who may have been ill, weak or alcoholic.
