Meg Rosoff motivation
Her gift of gab (described in the previous chapter), combined with her need for relationships and togetherness (discussed in the following paragraphs), makes Meg Rosoff a real "people person". She seems to need an ongoing, incessant dialogue! Indecisiveness can be a real problem for Meg Rosoff since she sees many sides to an issue and always solicits the opinions of others before acting.
Harmony and balance are her keynotes. Meg Rosoff instinctively understands the need to accommodate other people's interests and desires, and she is always fair and willing to meet others half way. Tactful, diplomatic, and quite socially aware, Meg does all she can to avoid conflict and discord. Her spirit is one of cooperation and compromise, and she often achieves through charm and discretion what would have been impossible to achieve with a direct, forceful approach.
Getting along with and pleasing others may be too important to Rosoff since she can be too dependent on the approval and opinions of other to make her own decisions. Rosoff will rarely act without seeking the counsel and feedback of other people. She prefers sharing and doing things with others rather than on her own. Being alone feels very unnatural to Meg Rosoff, and she has a strong need for a partner and intimate one-on-one relationships.
Meg Rosoff invests a great deal of her energy in personal love relationships and she is very idealistic and romantic about marriage. Meg Rosoff seeks a partner who is her equal intellectually, and who is capable of a mental relationship as well as a physical and emotional one. She makes a thoughtful, considerate friend or lover, and she enjoys the traditional symbols of love - courtship, flowers, etc. Rosoff perceives relationships like an art that requires time, attention and creative effort. Meg Rosoff appreciates a partner who is subtle and polished, never coarse or blunt.
Fairness and equality, both in her personal relationships and in the world, are extremely important to her. If Meg Rosoff fights about anything, it is often about something she feels is unfair and unbalanced. Balance is very important to Meg. She believes in moderation in all things and avoids fanaticism and extremism at all costs.
Meg Rosoff also has a strong need for beautiful, harmonious surroundings and a natural sense of artistic style and grace, which is reflected in the way Rosoff dresses and furnishes her home and workspace. Everything must be aesthetically pleasing and appropriate. Working with people as a counselor, advisor, consultant, or negotiator, or in an artistic field such as design or photography would be fulfilling to her.
Meg Rosoff has a very dramatic, creative, expressive nature and she loves to perform. Meg enjoys being the center of attention and she seeks to shine, to excel, and to be outstanding in some unique way. She is very involved in her own creativity and self-expression, and takes great pleasure in developing and using her special talents, whether these are artistic, athletic, or intellectual. Meg Rosoff has a strong sense of pride.
There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within Meg Rosoff, between her conscious attitudes and aspirations, and her deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs, and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Meg may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with her subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in her body may well be a signal that Meg Rosoff is denying or suppressing the messages from her subconscious or emotional self.
Ideally, Meg Rosoff will learn to accept the two quite different aspects of her and to express both of them. If she cannot do this, Rosoff is apt to attract many relationships into her life with people who reflect her denied or repressed qualities, and who seem to make her life difficult. (Read also chapter 4 in order to get a better picture of the duality described here.)
Sensitive and imaginative, she is attracted to artistic and creative pursuits and to mysticism. Meg Rosoff is impressionable and receptive, and often has experiences that are unusual and unexplainable by the rational mind. Meg has an abundance of dreams, visions and longings, but does not always have the concentrated will and stamina to make them materialize. Gentle, idealistic and peace loving, Meg often seeks to avoid the harsh realities of life. Meg has an ethereal quality about her.
