Behind Montez's rather serious demeanor (described in the previous chapter), she has a much more frivolous, inquisitive and open side. The self-discipline and self-control mentioned earlier help to balance some of the restlessness and flightiness described below. María has both a strong "adult" component in her nature (mature, careful, realistic), and a strong "child" component (mischievous, playful, fanciful).

María Montez is, in many ways, an eternal child. Her mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and her attention span is often quite brief. Montez grasps ideas quickly and once her initial curiosity has been satisfied, she is ready to move on. María Montez craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.

Because María Montez is usually willing to share and to give back to others in a generous way, she continues to generate successes in her life no matter how unfortunate prevailing circumstances are.
