Loretta has two very different sides to her. Sometimes she is the playful, curious child described in the previous chapter while at others she is the serious, detached adult. Few people can vacillate between these two extremes to the extent that Loretta does. In fact her detachment and objectivity is evident even when she is joking. If she loses touch with her lighter, playful side (possibly in later life), Loretta Young will become increasingly bitter and cynical. Her deeply conservative nature (discussed below) holds her restlessness in check, and she is actually less willing to bend than one would imagine based on her initial appearance.

Serious, disciplined and quietly ambitious, she is driven to prove herself and to achieve material accomplishments and success. Her work, her position in the world, and her contributions to society are very important to Young. Loretta Young will persevere through enormous hardship and frustration in order to reach a goal she has set for herself, and she often sacrifices much in the area of personal relationships and home life in order to do so.

Loretta Young has a thoughtful, quiet and self-contained disposition and does not readily show her inner feelings and needs. She may hide her interests or inclinations, except from those who know Loretta very intimately. Loretta Young is rarely content with herself and her life, and she has an inner urge to be continually going farther or deeper than her ever have before. Loretta has also a strong interest in social power and the role that money and economics play in people's lives.

The above description of Loretta Young is so deeply ingrained that she has little objectivity and often little appreciation for other, different ways of approaching life. Loretta Young tends to be one-sided. There is little ambiguity in her makeup and she generally knows what she wants and what will make her happy.

Her physical energy is strong and Loretta Young is able to make an extra effort and work quite hard at any task she wants to do. Young can act quickly and she gets a great deal accomplished in a hurry. But Loretta Young also has a tendency to be reckless and accident-prone.

Her comprehension is exceptional and Loretta Young reacts to everything very quickly. Young shows deep respect for knowledge and feels that she must learn everything there is to know. Studying probably was encouraged early on and Loretta Young was raised to be successful.
