His optimism and enthusiasm (mentioned in the previous chapter), is balanced by an innate objectivity, detachment, and pragmatic realism that usually keeps his idealistic ventures on a sound course. Though he appears confident and positive, Jude Law is often quite skeptical and much more careful than he seems. And while it is true that Law likes to play, he is also serious about his work and commitments.

Serious, disciplined, and quietly ambitious, he is driven to prove himself and to achieve material accomplishments and success. His work, his position in the world, and his contributions to society are very important to Law. Jude Law will persevere through enormous hardship and frustration in order to reach a goal he has set for himself, and he often sacrifices much in the area of personal relationships and home life in order to do so.

Jude Law has a thoughtful, quiet, and self-contained disposition and does not readily show his inner feelings and needs. Jude Law seems to be always in control, capable, efficient, and strong. He is often the person in the family or group who is given more responsibility (and more work) than the others. He is highly conscientious and even as a child he possessed great maturity, soberness, and worldly wisdom.

He is basically a pragmatic realist, and though he may have all sorts of dreams, ideals and colorful theories, he feels that the ultimate test of a concept is its practical usefulness. Jude has an innate shrewdness and business sense, and there is a bit of the cynic in him as well.

He is clear-headed, detached and objective, and is not swayed by emotional dramatics. Often he is authoritarian - strictly fair, but without mercy. Jude Law has a great respect for tradition and even if he does not agree with certain laws, he will abide by them or work to change them, but never flagrantly disregard them. Careful and conservative, Jude Law plays by the rules.

He is subtle, understated, quiet, deep, not easy to know intimately, and never superficial. He is a modest person and sometimes overly self-critical. Giving himself (and others) permission to feel, to play, to be spontaneous and silly, and to be weak and vulnerable sometimes, is not easy for Law.

Law's strong points are his depth and thoroughness, patience, tenacity, and faithfulness. His faults are a tendency to be rigid and inflexible, and too serious.

Jude Law has a clear sense of his own self and he therefore conveys a strong impression to others of who he is and what he wants. Assertive and self-motivated, Law can be a leader - one whom others look to for direction - but he competes and often clash with other strong individuals. Jude Law feels a need to be in control of his own life and he can be too self-involved, too immersed in his own interests, and oblivious to others at times.

He is intensely willful, zealous, and fanatical, though often Jude hides the intensity of his feelings and his personal motives and desires. Law has an infatuation with power and an almost compulsive desire for personal recognition, the desire to be "somebody". Jude Law tends to worship heroes who have powerful personal magnetism and charisma, and he often seeks to emulate them. Jude Law also has both a fear of, and an intense fascination with, death and the hidden, secret, dark side of life.
