John Glenn challenges and difficulties
John Glenn has a penchant for order and precision, and an almost compulsive attention to detail. He is often hypercritical and can be such a demanding perfectionist that he discourages himself or others from even attempting something that will not be done exactly the way Glenn knows it should be done.
He frequently over analyze or pick things apart mentally. John Glenn may be something of a hypochondriac also. John must learn that he does not have to rationally understand everything in order for it to be valid, and also to relax his unnecessarily high or strict standards.
He is very conscientious, responsible, and concerned with his duty, his public image and reputation, and becoming a person of stature in the world. John Glenn understands the need for hard work and careful planning in order to accomplish anything substantial and he is capable of much self-discipline and patience once he sets his sights on a goal.
But John Glenn is very judgmental and hard on himself if he fails to attain success, and he can become dry, bitter, or cynical if the world does not recognize his efforts.
His aspirations and dreams are always tempered by realism and practical considerations. John Glenn pursues his aims in a systematic, disciplined, and thorough manner, and he is willing to takes his time, advancing slowly and steadily on his way towards his goal.
Sometimes John Glenn underestimates what is possible, and holds himself back unnecessarily due to a lack of faith or an overly cautious attitude.
He is inclined to be somewhat withdrawn and has a hard time discussing important matters with his family and close relationships. A serious and deep thinker, John Glenn would like to explain his views to others, but has a difficult time finding the right words.
John Glenn may often be coerced into doing things that he does not want to do, leaving him frustrated, irritable and touchy. John could turn hard and unforgiving toward others and may break up some important relationships.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which John Glenn instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction John Glenn needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
Instinctively he is a fighter and an individualist who can stand alone when necessary. Very often, however, John stands alone when he does not need to, not realizing the support, assistance, and resources others may have to offer. John Glenn has a tendency to "reinvent the wheel" and to feel that he must be self-reliant and that only he can come up with the answers he needs. Implicit in this attitude is a kind of arrogance as well as a rather competitive approach, which - at its worst - can alienate him from others, or make John Glenn feel that "it is me against the world".
Social skills and graces and what John Glenn calls social "games" do not come naturally to him. John Glenn needs to learn how to share and join others, and how to negotiate and resolve conflict with others in a cooperative way.
It is in any involvements he has with teams, clubs, organizations, networks, and the like that John Glenn is most likely to wrestle with these issues. The qualities described above need to be channeled into some sort of group effort or experience, or have some impact on society at large.
