Behind Belushi's rather cautious attitude and conservative appearance (mentioned in the previous chapter) lies a much more unconventional soul. He may seesaw between the traditional and the unorthodox, the pragmatic and the idealistic, or conformism and nonconformism. John Belushi needs to find a balance or reconcile between these extremes. He may view himself as being more progressive than he is because John Belushi surrounds himself with middle-of-the-road people. Moreover, his combination of objectivity and interest in world affairs and larger issues is likely to enable John Belushi to become very successful at his business or whatever career he chooses.

He is a freedom-loving, strong-willed and independent-minded individual, and he insists upon living his own life as he sees fit, even if it means ignoring convention and tradition. In personal relationships, John Belushi cannot be owned or possessed, and while he is willing to share himself with another, he does not always adjust easily to the emotional give and take of close relationships.
